Dear Families,

We were sad to have to cancel school on Friday due to the unexpected power outage. Unfortunately, that meant we missed out on a few special events we had planned, including our Book Character Parade and Kindergarten Round Up. The good news is that our Book Character Parade has been rescheduled for this Friday, and we are excited to still celebrate together! 📚✨

While we were unable to hold Kindergarten Round Up as planned, we would still love to connect with our incoming kindergarten families. We invite you to join us for a short Kindergarten presentation on Thursday at 4:00pm, just before our Bingo for Books Family Event. After the presentation, families are welcome to stay and enjoy Bingo for Books with us from 4:30–5:30pm.

We are also continuing to celebrate Reading Month with fun activities throughout the week:

Monday: Wear RED
Wednesday: Stuffed Animal Day
Friday: Our Book Character Parade (rescheduled from last week)

Families are invited to watch the Book Character Parade on the front lawn on Friday! The parade will begin inside the school at 10:00am, and then students will come outside and parade across the front lawn so families can enjoy seeing all of the creative book characters.

Reading Month has been so much fun! Our school is beautifully decorated with artwork and activities students have created with their classroom buddies that connect to the books we are reading each week. Be sure to ask your student about the stories we’ve been enjoying, they are all from the “How to Catch…” book series! 🤩

A friendly reminder that school starts at 8:30 am, and arrival begins at 8:20 am. For safety reasons, please do not drop off students before 8:20 am, as there is no supervision before that time. Thank you for your continued support in helping us foster a love of reading in every child. We look forward to a month full of stories, imagination, and learning together!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. The best way to get in touch with me is through email, faasoae@wwcsd.net, or Class Dojo messaging.

Looking forward to another great week at Schweitzer!🐝

Sincerely,

Emily Fa'asoa, Schweitzer Principal

LEADERSHIP CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH LEADERSHIP CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH

User uploaded image

Each month, we introduce a leadership character trait that we focus on as a school. At the end of the month, we celebrate students who staff members notice demonstrating that trait in their words and actions. This month, our character trait is self-control.

Self-control means being in charge of your body, words, and actions, and stopping to think before you make a choice.

Example:
When you feel like calling out an answer, you use self-control by raising your hand and waiting for your turn. When you feel upset during a game at recess, you take a deep breath and keep playing instead of yelling or quitting.

  • Help your child be successful at school by getting them to school on time each day.
  • When students are late or unneccessarily miss days of school, it negatively impacts their learning and they miss out on socializing with friends and fall out of their daily rountine.
  • We do understand that students get sick sometimes and need to stay home from school to rest and family emergencies do occur but if your child is healthy, we appreciate you sending your child to school on-time each and every day.
