Welcome to the first Husky Nation Foundation Newsletter! You might know us by our previous name, the Hoover-Meredith Learning Community Foundation. While our name has changed, our mission remains the same.

The Husky Nation Foundation supports the six public schools located in northwest Des Moines by uniting the resources of the community and alumni to enhance our schools’ learning environments.

We aspire to be:

  • A partner in serving the educational needs of our member schools at all levels - classroom, building and community-wide. This includes providing small-scale as well as large-scale financial support.

  • A leader and a catalyst for bringing together community partners to leverage resources.

Our Core Values are:

  • Service– our primary function is to serve the educational needs of our students.

  • Inclusivity – we support our inclusive community schools that shape our thriving northwest side of Des Moines. We are committed to providing all students with equal access to educational opportunities and resources.

  • Diversity – we embrace, support and celebrate our diverse student bodies. We view the diversity of “Husky Nation” as a fundamental strength and something to be celebrated.

  • Opportunity – we are committed to providing quality, impactful educational opportunities. Respect– we approach all our work from a position of mutual respect. We have a high regard for the talents, abilities and expertise of Foundation school teachers, staff, and administrators.

  • Community – we are committed to our role in this community through advocacy, fundraising, and celebrating our schools.

Husky Nation Board THANKS YOU!

We are very excited about our Winter 2026 grant cycle, which will allow us to fund even more enhancement projects across all of our schools.

Can you join us in donating today?

Can you help sponsor a grant—$1,000, $500, or $250?

If those amounts aren’t possible, you can still make a powerful impact. Could you gather a small group to collectively fund a grant. 10 people giving $25 each for a $250 grant, or 5 people giving $50?

Now more than ever, we need your partnership to bring these ideas to life. Every donation, large or small, directly funds classroom projects that enrich learning from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Every dollar goes straight to our schools.

Please join us in supporting the Husky Nation Foundation and the six NW Des Moines Public schools, students, and families we proudly serve.
