Get Connected in 2025
What is connectedness? It’s a feeling of belonging. School connectedness has benefits for students and families. Those benefits may include:
Improved academic performance, Enhanced social and emotional well-being, Reduced risk of negative behaviors, and Increased sense of belonging and positive self-esteem.
Parents can encourage school connectedness in the following ways:
· Attend school events:
Participate in back-to-school nights, parent-teacher conferences, performances, and other school activities to show support and stay informed.
· Communicate with teachers:
Maintain open communication with teachers through regular contact, asking questions about their child's progress, and offering feedback.
· Volunteer at school:
Offer to help with classroom activities, field trips, or other school events to become more involved in the school community.
· Encourage friendships:
Talk to your child about making friends at school and actively support their efforts to build positive relationships with classmates.
· Talk about school at home:
Regularly ask your child about their school day, their experiences, and their feelings about their classes and teachers.
· Support positive behaviors:
Reinforce positive behaviors like cooperation, respect, and active listening that contribute to a positive school environment.
· Stay informed about school policies:
Understand the school's rules and expectations to ensure your child is aware and following them.
· Create a positive learning environment at home:
Provide a dedicated study space and encourage reading and learning activities at home.
· Be involved in decision-making:
If opportunities arise, participate in school committees or provide feedback on school initiatives to contribute to positive change.
✨We would like to congratulate Xavier Burkart✨
In partnership with the Arizona Council for Exceptional Children (AZCEC), Lake Havasu Unified School District wishes to recognize students within our district for who have demonstrated an “I Can Do It” attitude!
Despite any challenges, students are recognized for excelling in academics, art, athletics, community service, employment, self-advocacy, technology or independent life skills through a nomination process at their school site. The award recognition acknowledges the determination of a student to succeed, and many times the family support as well.
Congratulations to our Soar Award Winners!
