Policy Changes - Dress Code and Cell Phone
As a reminder, Rocky Ford schools saw some changes to these two policies that directly impact the school day.
The Cell Phone policy change requires that cell phones are off and out of sight during the entire school day - from first bell at 7:40a to last bell at 4:00p. Please help us support their success by not texting or phoning them during the school day. The first time a student is caught with their phone, it will be returned to them at the end of the school day. If a student breaks the policy a 2nd time, the parent/guarding must pick up the phone after the school day is over. Any subsequent violations will be subject to defiance consequences. The full policy can be found below.
Dress code requires all traditionally private areas to be covered. Skirts, shorts, dresses, rips in jeans, all must be past the fingertips with arms rested at the side. No pajama pants. Students will remain in the office until a change of clothing arrives. The full policy can be found below.

What are "Benchmarks"
"Benchmark" is a term we use for key testing times during the school year. These happen at the beginning of the year, the beginning of the second semester (the halfway point in our school year), and at the end of the year. The key tests (STAR-Reading, STAR-Math, DIBELS, and Fundamentals) show how your child is performing compared to other students across the nation. Most students complete these assessments in 10-20 minutes.
Your child's teacher will share this information with you during our parent/teacher conferences. Mark the dates on your calendar!

Protective Covers for Chromebooks
All student-issued Chromebooks include a protective cover that is required as part of the Chromebook insurance plan. Removing the cover voids the insurance, and families may be responsible for repair or replacement costs if damage occurs while it is removed.
Please remind your student to keep the protective cover on at all times to help protect the device and support learning.
