Principal's Update

Dear Shoreham Community,

What an amazing month ! We had an amazing snowfall and a great Thanksgiving Luncheon before we left on break. It was absolutely wonderful to see the smiles on students and families faces as the Shoreham School Community came together to break bread together.

This annual event is possible because we have many local farms and local businesses contribute food or items for the event. We are thankful for the volunteers that contribute their time to help set up, serve and clean up for this wonderful event !

We also had great staff members lend a helping hand wherever was needed . We wanted everyone to feel welcomed and to enjoy the tasty food that Ms. Kali cooked for the luncheon. It truly takes a village for events like this to happen!

Lastly, this month we have another opportunity for folks to volunteer for our Annual Student Craft Fair on Tuesday, December 23rd from 9:30 - 11:15 . If you have a craft idea or would like to volunteer please contact Ms. Irene in the front office.

Lastly, I would like to say thank You Shoreham community for all you do for our students , staff and families.

Best,

Lashawn Whitmore - Sells

Physical Education

Hello Shoreham Families,

My name is Anthony (A.J.) Bellomo or as the students know me, Mr. B. I’m the Physical Education teacher at Shoreham, Bridport, and Weybridge Elementary Schools and I’ve been teaching in the Addison Central School District for three years now. Over the years, I’ve loved watching students grow their ability to participate in group settings and improve their athletic skills during physical education class.

Our most recent unit in physical education class is soccer. During this time, we’re working on the ability to stay on task and focus on ourselves, while also building classic soccer skills, including dribbling, passing, and shooting. When it comes to elementary physical education class, our main goal is to focus on building the motor skills needed to be successful in a variety of different sports. The growth of these skills will support our students when they venture to middle school and high school, where they will be exposed to more game-like activities.

Within our fourth and fifth grade classes, we have been working in small groups, mainly focusing on using the proper part of our feet when contacting the soccer ball. We’ve also practiced dribbling in small spaces and staying in control of the soccer ball. The fourth and fifth graders have worked on shooting their soccer balls and differentiating between the force needed to pass properly and the force needed to shoot properly.

Our second and third grade class has been working on dribbling in a variety of different spaces. This includes dribbling in the general space around the gym to practice staying in control, as well as dribbling in different pathways. This group has done a very nice job of staying on task and being principled learners.

The kindergarten and first grade class has been exploring kicking by using different sizes and shapes of balls and other equipment. We have used smaller soccer balls, deck rings, and larger balls to explore how it feels to make contact with our feet. This group has also started to explore dribbling and staying in control of the ball.

I am very excited to continue watching each student grow and improve their physical abilities during our class.

Best,

Anthony (A.J.) Bellomo

District Update

Dear Bridport & Shoreham Families,

We are writing to touch base after a significant vote that occurred last night at the ACSD Board meeting. Last night, the ACSD Board made the decision to combine K-5 students from Shoreham and Bridport into a single learning community at Bridport Central School, beginning in the 2026-27 school year, moving preschool programming to Shoreham Elementary School.

We recognize that this vote represents a big change for both communities. As your building leaders, we care deeply for our students, staff, and families, and we are dedicated to providing the support that our communities need as we approach this new configuration together. We are so grateful for your partnership during this almost nine-month process. We will continue to work together to support our students in our communities.

When we return from break, we will share more information and opportunities to come together to plan for the future.

Please consider us your contact people for any questions and thoughts that arise. We will be coordinating with the superintendent’s office to ensure this transition is smooth, supportive, and sets our students up for success.

In partnership,

Jenny and Lashawn
