Greetings East High School scholars, families, and caregivers,

As a friendly reminder, this is the second part of the January Parent/Caregiver Cardinal Connection newsletter where this newsletter provides topics normally in a monthly communication. As a comprehensive high school, communication is essential and a typical monthly newsletter will not capture current topics that come up during the month. This newsletter contains essential information about upcoming events at SPEHS in January/February 2024.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, the second semester starts for SPEHS scholars and families. Grades for first semester will be finalized on Friday, January 25th and submitted to scholar's transcripts by Wednesday, February 7th. Scholars should review their second semester schedules as there may have been some changes.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach us by calling the main office where one of our administrative assistants will assist you.

Go Cardinals!!

Dane County Youth

Since 1980, every three years over 20,000 Dane County youth in grades 7-12 are surveyed regarding their opinions, concerns, attitudes, behaviors and experiences to provide educators, community agencies, parents, policy-makers and funding bodies the data needed to inform grant writing, program development and public policy. The last survey was administered in 2021.

Dane County school districts, including SPEHS, will be administering the Dane County Youth Assessment to all students on 1/29/2024. Please review the links below for more details on the survey, participation options and who to contact for questions.

Dear 9th, 10th and 11th Grade SPEHS Families,Dear 9th, 10th and 11th Grade SPEHS Families,

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year (aka Schedule Fest) will begin for our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students at Sun Prairie East. This will run through Thursday, February 1, 2024. During Schedule Fest, students will be given lessons and materials in their SP30 classes to guide them through the scheduling process. Counselors will also be attending 9th grade English classes on January 29th and 30th to provide additional support to our 9th graders as they work through their first Schedule Fest at SPEHS. School counselors will also be available in the LMC during SP30 for added support from January 30th through February 1st.

The deadline to submit schedule requests is Thursday, February 1st by the end of the school day.

The Schedule Fest slides (linked below) will be part of the SP30 lessons. This is a fantastic resource for caregivers/parents to review with their students. Please make sure to check in with your student(s) regarding their scheduling choices.
