American Heart Association
KHC is underway, and our school is excited about feeling good while doing good! Steele Elementary School is helping kids with special hearts through Kids Heart Challenge. We want as many families as possible to learn about heart health and the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR.
You can help by completing Finn’s Mission. When your student completes all the steps, they’ll earn a Lifesavers Cape and earn a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl LXI in 2027!
Sign up today at http://www2.heart.org/site/TR?fr_id=12398&pg=company&company_id=533353 or by using the AHA Schools app.
Parent Teacher Conferences March 10th
Parent-Teacher Conferences are here!
Scheduling a parent-teacher conference is important because it creates a dedicated time for families and educators to work together in support of a child’s success. During this conversation, teachers can share academic progress, strengths, and areas where additional support may be needed, while parents can provide valuable insight into their child’s interests, needs, and experiences at home. This two-way communication helps ensure that everyone is aligned on goals, expectations, and strategies, leading to more consistent support for the student both in school and outside of it. Conferences also build trust and partnership between families and the school, showing students that the adults in their lives are united in helping them grow, learn, and thrive.
5 Essential Survey 2026
Steele Elementary Families — We Need YOU!
Thank you to all of our families that participated in the 5 Essential Survey. We have reached our threshold of 20%, but we would still like to hear your feedback! Your voice helps us:
- Strengthen communication
- Support student success
- Improve school culture
- Make Steele even better for our kids
The survey is quick, confidential, and truly matters. Every response helps guide decisions that impact our students and families. If you haven’t filled it out yet, please take a few minutes today to help us reach our goal! Let’s show what Steele families can do!

This Week's Pictures
The Shine in #205 program is a way for you to salute any CUSD #205 employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. Whether you are a parent/guardian impressed with that special touch your student's teacher added to a moment, a coworker who thinks their colleague doesn't hear often enough about the great job they are doing, or a community member who witnessed a staff member's commitment to students-you can submit a Shine nomination!
Rooms Messaging App
Please download the Galesburg App. When you receive your invitation email, then you can sign up for messaging. All staff will use this for communication this school year. Once you have the app downloaded, you will see your child's teacher and information in the app.
If you haven't received an email or text, you can reach out to the office to get a code. If you are having trouble connecting, please contact our main office at 309-973-2016
