November SEL Theme: Gratitude

This month, we’re focusing on gratitude—taking time to notice and appreciate the good things in our lives. Practicing gratitude helps students and adults alike build stronger relationships, boost happiness, and develop a positive mindset.

Throughout the month, we’ll encourage everyone to:
💬 Name it: Share one thing you’re thankful for each day.
💖 Show it: Express appreciation to someone who makes a difference.
🌱 Grow it: Keep a gratitude journal or gratitude wall in your classroom or workspace.

Let’s make thankfulness a daily habit—big or small, every “thank you” helps our community shine a little brighter.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” – Aesop

Jim Gill Visits!

On October 15, Mrs. Colby invited Jim Gill to join us to kick off Family Reading Night. Jim Gill is a musician and author with unique credentials among children’s artists. Jim’s books and recordings are a reflection of both his graduate studies in child development and his professional experience working with families with young children with special needs. We had such a good time rockin' out with Mr. Gill!

Family Reading Night

To cap off our fun day on October 15, PES sponsored our Family Reading Night. Families were invited to participate in reading-based activities, have snacks, register for a drawing, and receive a free book. It was such a great time and turn-out. Over 85 families visited! Thank you all who came out. We would also like to thank all of our staff members who made the night great!

Leo Druien - 1st Grade

Mrs. Wanke said the following about Leo: "I just wanted to share about Leo! He is the first to offer help to other students. Whether he is offering words of encouragement, helping someone with their work, or offering to play with someone at recess, Leo is right there! Already this morning, he noticed his brother's lunch box in the lost and found and went to get it for him. Then, he helped another student open his ranch for his snack. He is such a kind kid!"

Emma Abate - 3rd Grade

"Emma has made extra efforts all over the place. She saw a classmate upset and not only did she check on him, she rubbed his back and sat with him until he calmed down. Then, she checked on him later. She has also been better at time management and her writing is amazing! I am really proud of the independence she is showing in class." Mrs. Rawhoof is so proud of you!

Camden Rawhoof - 2nd Grade

Mrs. Colby witnessed Camden doing good things. She said, " While I was doing crossing guard, I witnessed something that made my heart so, so full! One of our students has been having a hard time coming to school. This morning I saw the student's mom driving. She stopped right where Camden Rawhoof was walking and the student jumped, He and Camden held hands as they walked. His mom pulled up to me, and I asked if what I saw really happened. She had the biggest smile and answered Yes! Thank Goodness!

Camden has such kindness and such a good heart!

Addisyn Haynie and Connor Deck

Mrs. Lucas is so proud of TWO of her students. Addison Haynie and her grandma bought sequin keychains to share with everyone in the class. She was passing them out at the end of the day as we packed up to go home. Conor Deck thought that was so kind of her that he went and gave her one of his Star Bucks for sharing with the class.
