We are excited to host our 2nd Annual Turkey Trot Walk/Run on Friday, November 20, 2026! A Turkey Trot is a school event, typically held before Thanksgiving break, where students walk, jog, or run a set distance to promote fitness and school spirit. We are happy to welcome parents and guardians to come cheer on and/or walk/run with their child (ren)!

All students will participate in this fun event during their regularly scheduled Specials time. The schedule will be as follows:

Turkey Trot Schedule:

5th Grade 8:05-8:55

4th Grade 9:30-10:20

3rd Grade & YCAP 10:20-11:10

2nd Grade 11:40-12:30

1st Grade 12:30-1:20

Pre K, Kindergarten, Life Skills 1:20-2:10

Location & Activity:

The Turkey Trot will take place on the bus ramp area. Parents who are participating can wait near the first gym door for their child(ren).

As students and classes exit the gym, we will begin the walk. Students will walk for approximately 20 minutes. After the walk, students will line up with their classes and return to the gym to receive their snack and certificate of completion. Please note that parents will not be permitted inside the gym during this time.

If inclement weather affects the event outdoors, we will hold the Turkey Trot during their regular Specials time. No visitors will be allowed during this time.

Hi Parents!

Portrait retakes and absentees will be taken for Mayde Creek Elementary on Wednesday, November 4th. You may visit https://provinehouston.accessmyevent.com/MCE26IND to prepay for your package online. Please have your student dressed in their best for their Fall photo.

If you previously purchased a package, and would like your photo retaken, ALL purchased items must be returned to the photographer the day of pictures. We can then exchange the old photos and place a new order for your child’s retake photo at no additional cost.

Everyone who didn’t purchase should have received a 2nd chance flyer with your child’s proof on it. If you haven’t, please email the below information to houston@provinestudios.com. We can then send you a link to view & order your photos.

MCE Community,

We need your help keeping our Gators safe! Please review these important transportation and dismissal reminders.

Car Rider Line

  • All morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up must use the car rider line. The side of the building between MCE and the junior high is reserved for buses, daycare vans, deliveries, and staff parking.
  • Access the car rider line by turning onto Ashley Road from Greenhouse Road (see map below).
  • Car rider dismissal ends at 3:20 p.m. If you arrive after 3:20, please go to the Front Office and bring your Car Rider Tag.
  • Parents entering the building after 2:30 p.m. to request car-rider pick-up will need to wait until 3:25 p.m.
  • No transportation changes after 2:00 p.m.
  • Early pick-up ends at 2:30 p.m.
  • If your child has not been picked up by 3:25 p.m., you will be contacted.
  • Staff hours are 7:25 a.m.–3:25 p.m. Please be on time and respectful of staff time.

Car Rider Tag Reminders

  1. A school-issued Car Rider Tag must be visible in your front window and hanging from your mirror. Tags lying on the dashboard may not be visible.
  2. Pictures of tags will not be accepted.
  3. If you do not have your tag, go directly to the Front Office to pick up your child.
  4. Stay in the lane you are directed to.
  5. Please drive slowly and do not use your cell phone while driving. Safety is our priority.
  6. Need a replacement or extra tag? Please contact the Front Office.

Kindergarten Bus Reminder

Kindergarten students must have a responsible adult or older sibling meet them at the bus stop. If no one is present, the bus will return the student to MCE, and the guardian will be responsible for picking them up.

Meal Prices

As the 2026 – 2027 school year approaches, we'd like to remind you of an upcoming change to school meal prices.

In response to federal regulations and economic impacts, breakfast and lunch prices will increase beginning this school year. While these adjustments are necessary to help us continue providing high-quality, nutritious meals for our students, we understand that any increase can affect a family's budget. That's why we've worked hard to keep meal prices as affordable as possible. In fact, this is the District’s first meal price increase in more than 10 years.

Beginning with the 2026 – 2027 school year:

  • Breakfast at all campuses will increase from $1.25 to $1.50.
  • Elementary lunch will increase from $2.25 to $2.75.
  • Junior high and high school lunch will increase from $2.75 to $3.25.

Please note that these changes do not affect Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) campuses. Students at participating CEP campuses will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch throughout the school year.

Lunch Visitors 🍴 Lunch Visitors 🍴

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

We ask you to give us the first few weeks of school to put our cafeteria structures and routines in place. This year we will begin to allow lunch visitors on September 8th.

As usual, KISD limits lunch visitors to parents/guardians/grandparents (with form on file), and younger non-school aged siblings. Please request a form from the front office if you would like for a grandparent to be able to come eat lunch with your child.

Strollers will be left in the designated stroller lot prior to entering the cafeteria. Videos and photos may not be taken during lunch as not all students at Mayde Creek Elementary are allowed to have photos taken.

All lunch visitors will leave the cafeteria and exit through the front office before students are dismissed. Please do not follow the line back to the classrooms.

As a reminder, lunch time is a time for students to socialize with their classmates and continue to build peer social skills. Per district guidelines, visitors are not allowed to sit at the classroom tables.

After September 8th, see lunch schedule below:

Tuesday – Kindergarten (10:45–11:15) and First Grade (10:15-10:45)

Wednesday – Second (11:10-11:40) and Third Grade (12:30-1:00)

Thursday – Fourth (12:00-12:30) and Fifth Grade (1:00-1:30)
