Recess Success
This week our class has been struggling with making safe, respectful, and responsible choices on the playground. Please check out this presentation created by Ms. Scherz. I often refer to it for my own children. It is full of information for how to help your child navigate friendships, recess, and lunch times. Check it out!

Class Read Alouds
Each week our class will continue with our book study. It’s a great opportunity for you to talk with your student about the skill of the week, what we learned from the book, and how well they understood it. (Students can also take AR quizzes on any book we read aloud as a class.) You can even google the book titles to hear the read aloud again. Here are the books for April:

Informative Writing
*Please let me know if you ever have any concerns or questions about the books we are reading as a class.

Reading Through the National Parks
The Second "Reading Through the National Parks" Challenge started! Based on one of our favorite books, Kelsey Green Reading Queen, this challenge will be slightly different than the first. Students will still record their 'individual' parks, but they will work together to read at least 900 parks!! We are off to a slow and steady start, as the class has completed 6% of the challenge. Packets do not need to be signed, but please encourage your students to READ, READ, READ! Students can take quizzes at home too.
Scholastic Book Orders
This year, our class is reading with Scholastic Book Clubs! You’ll have access to expertly curated, affordable books that help boost your child’s reading skills, build your home library, and maybe even create moments of quality time you can share together.
