The SHARK Alert
Chatham Elementary School Family Update
Sunday, February 25th
Dear CES Families and Friends,
I hope you enjoyed the February Vacation. It seems hard to believe that we are already in the final week of February! As we finish out this short, but busy month, we are excited to announce some staffing changes at CES.
First, we would like to wish best wishes to Ms. Amy Middleton. Ms. Middleton has been the visual arts teacher at CES for several years. She will be moving down the street and taking on a new role as the Creative Director for the Chatham Creative Arts Center. While we will miss seeing her daily, we look forward to further developing our collaboration with the Arts Center and their artists to expand our arts education.
Taking over for Ms. Middleton is our own Ms. Cara Kidd. Ms. Kidd has served as an incredible Instructional Assistant in our special education program for the last three years. Prior to joining CES, Ms. Kidd was an art teacher and director of the arts program at an International School in China. She has grand plans for the CES Art Room and we are thrilled that she will have the opportunity to return to her love of art instruction.
Finally, we have two new Instructional Assistants joining the special education team at CES. Ms. Brooke Linnell and Mr. Christopher Mortell. We are thrilled that both Ms. Linnell and Mr. Mortell loved subbing so much at CES that they agreed to be full-time members of our fabulous staff. CES is still hiring for an additional 1.0 Instructional Assistant. Please reach out to Dr. Kelly with any questions and apply through SchoolSpring.com.
Have a great week ahead!
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Kelly

MRSD Portrait of a Graduate - Independent and Confident Learners
- are self-motivated and independent
- advocate for themselves
- embrace challenges
- are resilient
At CES, students practice and learn the skills to be independent and confident learners every day in many different ways. In the Art classroom, our students are introduced to a wide variety of art and able to explore their own technique through individual projects. Our students gain confidence through trial and error, often quoting Ms. Middleton that "mistakes can be beautiful".
At the recent MRSD Arts Night, several CES artists earned distinction for their work. Talk about a confidence boost!! Congratulations to all of our artists!
