Jan 29 PD Day Agenda

We are pushing back our start time to 9am to allow everyone a more leisurely start to their day, but breakfast will be ready by 8:30am right outside the library. Our PD day and afternoon Teacher of the Year/Teacher of Promise celebrations will all be in the library.

Class Visits, RTI Tier 2 Groups, CST Progress Monitoring

Class visits will continue with observations of Tier 1 and Tier 2 small group instruction. Please make sure that you are pulling Math and ELAR Tier 2 groups with the identified students based on MAP cutoff scores and other data.

Please make CST progress monitoring update notes for students who are receiving Tier 2 instruction. TEA pulls these reports. If you need help, admin and/or our MTSS Coach Jennifer Beeler, is happy to support.

Madi N.C and Alana Gibson delivered a power packed pd session on TFAR for 3rd-5th grade teachers this week. 3rd-5th teams, thank you for discussing how and when you'll be embedding TFAR for assessment and progress monitoring purposes for students. We are glad to hear that you find it useful and overall a good resource to utilize.

Math Chats & Self-Assessments K-5

Back during our November Faculty Meeting, Mrs. Banuelos shared a couple of powerful Math strategies to increase student engagement and critical thinking skills.

They are linked here for your review. This is a great month to try them in your Math instruction and discuss how to embed them into Math lesson plans during PLC time!

January Maker Space Menu

It is about that time to start thinking about all the fun your Mountain Lions will be having in MakerSpace this semester.

Visit & bookmark the new MakerSpace website. It will update monthly with the new menu. It is the permanent location for the easy breezy sign-up sheet, and finally, it has a lovely reminder of the Spring "Blurple" Schedule.

Active Playground Supervision by Staff

We need your help with active playground supervision when you are outside with your students during recess and WOW time.

We understand that recess can be a time for teachers to quickly huddle and touch base on pressing concerns, however, teachers and other staff need to spread out during the 30 minute recess period.

If you have students playing on the blacktop area (basketball hoops, four square, maps) to the left of the playground, a staff member/teacher needs to be positioned near this area.

Staff also need to be stationed near the Gaga pit/woods area.

Safety on Campus

In light of the recent tragic school shooting in Georgia, we must continue to be as vigilant as ever with safety on campus.

Continued reminders:

1. Doors are shut and locked at all times. No exceptions. No propped door ever.

2. NEVER allow students to open classroom doors for people they don't know.

3. Active supervision. Make sure every single child under your wing is accounted for. Walk behind the class or beside the class so you can keep watchful eyes.

4. Playground and recess- all adults spread out to ensure we have eyes on all play areas.

5. See something, say something! Report all suspicious activity to admin and to the office. Never allow an individual to roam hallways without a visitors sticker.
