August Update

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Families,
There are certain experiences in our K–12 journey (and in life) that we never forget. They become the stories we look back on years later and remember fondly. This week, our middle school students had the chance to make some of those memories during their three-day trip to Washington, D.C.
Between the red-eye flights, packed days of sightseeing, and more than 24 miles of walking in roughly 53 hours, it was quite the adventure! More importantly, it was an opportunity for students to experience history firsthand, learn outside the classroom, and spend time together in a way that doesn’t happen every day at school.
With the support of two staff members, several parent chaperones, and our partners at WorldStrides, our students made the most of this place-based learning experience. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the trip possible and gave our students the opportunity to take part in something so memorable.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to text, call, or email: (231) 590-8631 or reevec@suttonsbayschools.com.
Sincerely,
Chris Reeve
Principal, Suttons Bay Public Schools
MIDDLE SCHOOL LIFT UPDATE
As we settle into the first full month of this school year, we want to thank everyone for making the start to LIFT's school year programming so much fun!
In October, we hope you'll join us for all things "fall"! We have everything from pumpkin decorating and cozy baking to fall hikes and Halloween window-cling making on the calendar to help celebrate the much-loved crisp and spooky month.
Take a look at the full calendar on our website, and be sure to register your student HERE or by following the QR code to ensure they can join us for all our upcoming activities.
HIGH SCHOOL LIFT UPDATE
DESTINATION: DEGREE
By now, seniors should be well underway with their Common App and college applications. As you continue working through the application process, please be sure to list Mr. Reeve as your school counselor on your applications so that we can upload transcripts and provide any required supporting documents.
Scholarship opportunities are also rolling in, and our Scholarship Webpage has been updated with new opportunities! We encourage seniors and families to check the website regularly and take advantage of scholarships as they become available. Applying for scholarships early and consistently can make a big difference in helping to offset the cost of college.
Please continue to stay organized, pay attention to application deadlines, and reach out if you need assistance along the way.
