For New OHVA 3-5 Learning Coaches
2026-2027
We are so excited to welcome you and your family for an amazing school year!
Being a Learning Coach is meaningful, with fun-filled and sometimes challening days, too. So we want to do our part to make things flow as smoothly as possible for you! We appreciate the hard work that takes place in your home.
First, take a little time to look over the Welcome Site. This is the spot! Prior to the first day of school, your K12 School (OLS) login will direct you there automatically.
When your student logs in to login.k12.com on the first day, they will see the K12 Launch Pad. This is their hub to see classes, assignments, emails, and more. They’ll also find a Welcome Site widget right in their K12 Launch Pad, so they can easily get back to those extra resources anytime throughout the year.
Students in grades K–5 can access their K5 Dashboard, a simplified, age-appropriate homepage featuring Strider the Fox from the K5 Dashboard right in their K12 Launch Pad.
Once again, we’re so glad you’ve chosen to let us serve your student’s academic needs. We’re excited to get to know your family as you join our school community.
Let’s have a great year together! ~ Your OHVA School Team
Orientation Info
Students & Learning Coaches should attend orientations. View details below.
Orientations vs. Welcome Sessions
Orientations are usually focused on school policies, taking attendance and they give you an overview of the school basics. They are hosted by advisors.
Welcome Sessions are hosted by teachers to give you the specifics for each class or course.

Attend ONE orientation session online your first day of school, or first week of school, depending on your schedule. These will show in your student's schedule, and are typically offered multiple times your first week. Check with your student's advisor for questions about orientation
Online Learning Course: Log into the school system to begin the Welcome to Online Learning course. You may begin this before the first day of school if you choose. This course gives you the information for each course for your student and helps you to learn how the school system works.
On the First Day: Log into the school system between 8 and 8:30 to see your student's Class Connect (Events) Schedule. This varies by student, but those live classes are the priority to plan the day. You should see an orientation offered, along with other live classes and lessons to do.

Tips from Veteran Learning Coaches
Managing your Email:
You're going to get a lot of emails from us! Some of these are very essential for your student and for your role as a Learning Coach. Here are some tips that veteran Learning Coaches suggest to keep yourself organized and not overwhelmed by email.
1) Create folders for your emails. It's up to you, but you may want to have folders for:
- Each student
- Each subject/course/teacher
- School Announcements, Newsletters and Policies
2) Create a "just for school" email account. Remember, you've got to update this in the school system in your account if you do this.
What Materials will my 3-5 Student Receive?
Because materials are shipped out by course, each student must be assigned courses first for materials to be shipped out.
Once your student is assigned courses, you can track your incoming shipments right from your Learning Coach K12 School OLS account!

MAP Assessments (NWEA)
Watch for instructions for your student to take MAP (NWEA) assessments online. It's super important that your student take these assessments independently so that teachers can have insight on your student's academic needs to get started, and be able to see growth and progress as the year continues.
