A Message from Principal Smith A Message from Principal Smith

Parents,

It was pure joy to see our very own Central Middle dancers and band perform last Friday. The PTO tailgate was a success, so thank you to all of the volunteers. I smiled as I witnessed many students cheer their peers on while performing. PTO events and fundraisers are vital to our overall success as it financially allows further opportunities for our school whether supporting students or staff. Speaking of fundraisers, I want to touch on our upcoming color run.

The color run is taking the place of our major fundraiser done in past years. The rationale behind having it during school hours was so the maximum number of students could participate. It was never intended to exclude students who can’t pay to participate. In fact, it’s encouraged to share the link to get donations from other people whether family, friends, work, etc., not take on the expense themselves. I have spoken with our counselors regarding families in need. Rather than assume, if your child is in need and would like to participate, please contact their grade level counselor. Regarding work missed, the color run is taking place during advisory and will extend to the last period/block of the day. Minimum instructional time is lost. If students have work to complete, this work can be done prior to the event or after (the following week) with no penalties for participating. I realize there will still be mixed emotions and feelings, and I certainly would like to work through and problem solve with anyone who would like to discuss this event further. I have received emails that I will answer on Monday along with phone calls. Please be patient as I will contact each person who has reached out. With anything new, there will be obstacles and challenges.

Thank you for all you do and have an amazing weekend.

A Huge thank you to all of our PCMS Families who came out to our Tailgate! A Huge thank you to all of our PCMS Families who came out to our Tailgate!

With almost 400 people registered, this was our biggest turnout yet—and what an incredible evening it was! From performances by our amazing 8th grade band, PCMS Dance Team, and high school cheerleaders, to face painting, yard games, the Hacienda food truck, and meeting new families—it was such a joy to see our community come together.

Special thanks to our Tailgate Committee Chairs: Monika Blackmon, Beth Blackmon, and PJ Moore for all of their hard work in planning such a fun night!

We also want to thank all of our volunteers who helped make it possible:
Bill, Gavin, Monika & Kadence Blackmon
Jill, Jeff & Alex Hall
Ben, Blaire & Beth Blackmon
PJ & Minky Moore
Elle Rogers & Laya Rosch (our talented face painters!)
And of course, our famous custodian Kevin, for keeping traffic and parking running smoothly.

What an awesome way to kick off the season—we can’t wait to see everyone again at next year’s tailgate!
