School Supplies
📚 CHS School Supply List – 2026–2027 📚
We are sharing our CHS recommended school supply list for the 2026–2027 school year early to give families plenty of time to plan ahead for these purchases.
New next year: we are recommending that students purchase their own calculator. While our Media Center does have calculators available for students who are unable to purchase one, we strongly encourage students to have their own. A personal calculator is a tool students will use throughout high school and into college-level coursework.
We hope sharing this information in advance is helpful as you plan for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your continued support!
Important Morning Drop-Off Reminder for Parents
To ensure a safe and smooth arrival for all students, please follow the morning drop-off procedures outlined below.
-
The Bus Drop-Off Lot is reserved for buses during morning arrival whenever a bus is present.
-
Parent drop-off is only allowed in the bus lot when no buses are in the area.
-
Parents and guardians driving students to school should use Lot A or Lot B for morning drop-off.
Using the designated lots helps reduce traffic congestion and keeps students safe as they enter the building.
Entrances marked with a ⭐ on the map indicate doors that are unlocked and monitored during drop-off time.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us provide a safe, efficient start to the school day for our students.

Counseling Corner
PSAT and SAT practice opportunities available to students at Clio High School. Regular practice can help students build confidence, improve scores, and become more comfortable with the digital testing format.
Students have access to two excellent free resources:
• Khan Academy — Offers personalized practice based on skill level, targeted areas for improvement, and step-by-step explanations.
• College Board Bluebook App — The official practice platform from College Board, providing full-length digital PSAT and SAT practice tests that closely mirror the real exam experience.
Consistent practice can strengthen reading, writing, and math skills while helping students feel more confident on test day. Encouraging students to take advantage of these tools is a great step toward college readiness.
Spring State Testing Information
This spring, students across Michigan will participate in required state assessments. These tests help measure student progress toward college and career readiness and provide important information that schools use to improve instruction and support student learning. Depending on grade level, students may take assessments such as M-STEP, PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, or the Michigan Merit Exam (which includes the SAT and other components for 11th grade).
Please see the attached letter from the Michigan Department of Education for more detailed information about Michigan’s state testing program and what families can expect this spring.

FAFSA
The U.S. Department of Education announced that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is officially open!
As always, we appreciate your efforts to encourage as many students as possible to submit the FAFSA form. Remember, we are here to support you along with way. There are a number of resources available on our Web site including the FAFSA Awareness Toolkit.
Last year, FAFSA completion across the state was over 55% and we know that we can increase that number with your help to ensure that Michiganders maximize their aid eligibility. Let’s make this happen together!

Traver Talk
As we head into the end of March with Parent-Teacher Conferences and move toward spring testing in April and May, our focus is on academic growth and preparation. We are just weeks away from spring assessments, including PSAT 9, PSAT 10, and for 11th grade students, the SAT, MSTEP, and ACT.
Classrooms have already begun incorporating test-preparation strategies into daily instruction to help students feel confident, prepared, and supported. To help build student motivation and buy-in, we are offering an academic incentive. Underclassmen who meet or exceed benchmark scores this spring (and meet additional eligibility requirements) may qualify to exempt their final exams in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. Please review the attached letter for detailed information regarding eligibility criteria.
We are also closely monitoring grades by department each week see the attached graph for more information. The good news - the number of E grades has decreased again from last week to this week. Great work, Mustangs! We will continue working together to ensure every student is supported. Students needing additional assistance are encouraged to attend intervention sessions during Advisory or participate in our After the Bell program for extra academic support.
Next week’s Positivity Project trait is Perspective, which connects directly to this academic season. Tests are not labels - they are opportunities to demonstrate growth. With the right perspective, our students can approach this season with confidence and success!

Finish Strong!
As we transition from the cold grip of winter to the warming renewal of spring, it's clear that change is in the air. This change extends beyond the weather; it must include our mindset, our goals, and our commitment to excellence in the way we approach the demands of each day and the lessons we learn along the way.
Please note that our Parent/Teacher Conferences take place on March 10th from 3:30-5:30 pm and also on March 12th from 12:00 - 3:00 PM and from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Remember, we utilize a drop-in format and we hope to see you there!
At Clio High School, we are committed to building a winners' mentality, one that drives us to excel in everything we do. It's about more than just winning; it's about striving for greatness in every aspect of our lives. This mentality challenges us to set high standards for ourselves and to work tirelessly every day to achieve them.
Embracing change also means embracing struggle. Challenges and obstacles are a natural part of life, but it's how we respond to them that defines us. By setting high standards and working diligently to overcome difficulties, we not only grow as individuals but also learn to embrace life's challenges with courage and resilience. A path without roadblocks or challenges, is one that is easily forgotten and never treasured. Appreciation for any journey comes from the difficulty in the path that was traveled.
As we enter March, and approach Spring Break, I encourage all students to “clean up their gaps in learning” and to finish this semester strong. The final stretch may be challenging, but it's an opportunity to demonstrate the hard work and dedication that define our school community. Let's continue to support one another, push ourselves to new heights, and finish the school year with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Together, let's embrace change, set high standards, and work every day to overcome life's challenges. By doing so, we not only finish the school year strong but also prepare ourselves for the bright future that lies ahead. Go Clio! Join the Mustang Charge! #theplacetobe!
