École Maple ES Family Update

April 7-11

École Maple ESFamily UpdateApril 7-11

Hello Ecole Maple Families,

Hello April!

Is it possible that we have seen the last of our below 0 temperatures by the end of next week?? Fingers are crossed for our warmer weather ahead. Please remember that warm weather leads to wet conditions on the yard. Please make sure to send your students to school with appropriate clothing and some extras just in case. As always, we are happy to provide anything students may require if it is needed!

Theatre Club support!

Rehearsals are happening regularly and costume fittings have begun! Please see the poster below, as we are still in need of some items to help us complete the sets and costumes.

Indigenous Teaching groups to visit

We are very grateful for Mandy and Chrystal, who are Kanyen'kehá:ka Knowledge Keepers coming from the Tyendinaga territory, to visit a few of our classes this Wednesday and Thursday to share their Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and learning with some of our students.

Manie Musicale

Many French classes are getting pretty excited with the final 4 songs of Manie Musicale coming up! We have been listening to French songs, in conjunction with Basketball March Madness. Our voting started with 16 songs, from various parts of the world, voted on from schools all over the WORLD. There have been some disappointments as class favorites got voted out, but there is hype around the 4 remaining songs! Will it be Sois pas timide? Minimum ça? Mizik? We will find out by the end of the week who the two finalists will be, and the Big Reveal will be viewed at an assembly in the gym for all participating classes on April 9th!

Looking forward to seeing you all this week!

Why Use the SchoolMessenger App?

When you join SchoolMessenger, you will be able to:

  • receive imporant information from LDSB
  • join classrooms and extra-curricular groups
  • report a student's absence (same day and in advance)

Reporting A Student's Absence:

The new student absence reporting system will let you use a mobile app, a website, or an interactive toll-free phone number to report an absence in advance. These options are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.

If your student is marked absent and the absence hasn’t been reported in advance, our new SafeArrival system will attempt to reach the student’s priority contact by telephone to confirm the absence. If our system is unable to reach the designated contacts, school office staff will follow up.
