Tech Turn IN
4th Grade Students
All district-issued iPads assigned to 4th grade students will be collected during the final two weeks of school. Students must return their iPad in its original case, along with the original charging cable and charging cube, in working condition. Devices should be free of stickers, skins, or markings, except for the district-issued asset tag.
Students currently in 4th grade who are not attending Summer School will receive their district-issued Chromebook shortly after the start of the 2026–27 school year. If devices become available prior to the start of the school year, families may also have the opportunity to pick up their student’s Chromebook during the summer by scheduling an appointment through an online booking calendar. Additional pickup opportunities may also be available during scheduled school photo days. More information will be shared with families if summer pickup becomes available.
Students attending Summer School will receive a device on the first day of the program and will return it on the last day of the program.
Kindergarten Students
Current kindergarten students entering 1st grade will have their district-assigned device available in their classroom for use in the fall of the 2026–27 school year. Students attending Summer School will have access to a device for the duration of the program.
1st-3rd and 5th-6th Grade Students
iPads and Chromebooks will NOT be collected from students in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade.
Students Not Returning for the 26/27 School Year
Students who will not be returning next school year must return their district-issued iPad or Chromebook, along with the original charging cable and charging brick, to their school’s main office by June 12, 2026. Returns after this date must be scheduled through the TechKNOW Student Helpdesk at New Berlin West. To make an appointment, please email TechKNOW at TechKNOW@nbexcellence.org.
Non-returned / Intentional damage
Starting Monday, June 15, all returned devices will be inspected, cleaned, and prepared for reuse. Please note the following:
Missing or intentionally damaged items (iPads, original cases, charging cables, or charging cubes) will result in a charge to the student’s family account.
Families will be notified via email if any charges are applied.
iPads returned with stickers, skins, or other markings (excluding the district-applied asset tag) will incur a replacement case charge.
Missing accessories will not be accepted after June 30, 2026—charges will be assessed for any unreturned items after that date.
Cases with a broken stand will not result in a replacement charge.
This week and last week fourth graders visited Ms. Freimark in the orchestra room to learn about joining orchestra next year as a fifth grader. Students may begin studying the VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO, or BASS--please check out this letter or presentation to learn more! Interest sheets should be turned in to the envelope outside the orchestra room by Friday, June 5--or sign-up online here.
Current fifth graders are also welcome to begin orchestra brand new in the fall as a sixth grader! Sign up online here. Please contact Ms. Freimark at kristin.freimark@nbexcellence.org with any questions.
