McKissick Academy of Science and Technology - 9.12.25
September 12, 2025
Happy Friday afternoon!
It has been a wonderful week of learning at MAST! Our students are settling beautifully into their routines and procedures. Today, our first graders proudly presented their Shark Bite Box PBL unit, designed to make a positive impact in our community. If you haven’t had the chance to see it yet, it’s displayed just below the sign at the bottom of our driveway. We are continuing to collect donations to support our community.
We also had an incredible turnout for our Grandparents Breakfast fundraiser! The event was such a success that, moving forward, we will divide it by grade level to make the experience even better. Thank you for your continued partnership and for joining us in creating such positive beginnings to the school day.
We look forward to welcoming families again at the end of the month for our All Pro Dad’s event.
Have a wonderful weekend! We can’t wait to see our Sharks back on Monday!
Committed to Success,
Heather Touchberry

Volunteer Training - New Procedures for 2025-2026
We have some exciting news that may help our busy families with meeting our volunteer requirements. We are now offering a VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER TRAINING! Follow the steps in the attached file to be cleared to chaperone for field trips and other school events. Please note that MAST requires that all volunteers have a current background check through our Raptor system (information about how to order is in the attached document). Background checks are good for 3 calendar years. If you have any questions, please contact me at whitneymoore@pickens.k12.sc.us. We look forward to working with you this year!
Also, let me know if you would like to be added to PTO's email distribution list for opportunities to help volunteer through their events and activities this year.
