ABMS 8th Grade Families,
We wanted to send a reminder email about the 8th grade Farewell Ceremony and some needed information that we need from families to help us prepare for the end of the school year.
Our 8th grade Farewell ceremony will be on Thursday, May 23, from 8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. in our ABMS gym. We encourage parents/guardians and family members to attend this important event that will mark the culmination of your child’s middle school experience. After the event, students will go to Main Event for a full day of fun activities and return to ABMS prior to normal dismissal time. Thanks to our PTO for arranging this fun opportunity at Main Event for our students to enjoy the activities and for the payment on behalf of our 8th grade families.
Specifics of May 23:
8th grade students arrive at school at standard school time. The suggested attire for our 8th graders for the 8th grade Farewell ceremony is khakis/shorts for boys with a collared shirt and casual dresses/pants for girls. Please keep in mind our school dress code still applies.
Students will also need to bring with them a change of clothes for the activities occurring later in the day at Main Event and they will place these clothes in their hall locker upon arrival. This should consist of comfortable tennis shoes, socks, shorts/pants and a T-shirt.
Students will also need to bring their chromebook and charger with them that day so it can be placed in their locker for a time later to be turned in.
After the 8th grade Farewell ceremony, families will have a limited time to take pictures with their student(s) as shortly after we will have the students change into their casual clothes and then leave around 9:45 a.m. for Main event.
At Main Event, all school rules still apply for our students and we will visit with them about the activity options available to them. This will includes:
4 hours of “All You Can Play Activities' ' that includes Bowling and Shoes, Billiards, ShuffleBoard, Laser Tag and Gravity Ropes.
Students will get a Ticket for lunch consisting of 2 slices of Pizza and a medium drink. Students can bring their own additional money if they want to purchase additional lunch items.
Students will also get a 2 Hour Fun Card that allows them to play all of their games. However there will not be any points or prizes awarded, including not valid for VR play, as other schools may be there that day and would not be logistically possible. The 2 hour Funcard time begins with the first swipe by a student with a game machine.
Students will load the buses around 1:30 p.m. to return to ABMS prior to dismissal.
Students will also turn in their chromebook on this day when they return from Main Event.

Information we need from 8th grade Families
The following information is needed by each 8th grade family by May 13th. This is helpful for planning purposes.
We need to know if any students have any food allergies for the food provided at Main Event on behalf of our PTO on May 23rd.
Students will be expected to turn in their chromebook and charger on May 23. The exception is that students can keep their device if they are taking a summer school class this summer through Blue Valley. The student would need to turn in their device to ABMS in early August in order to receive their MacBook from BVSW.
