Falcon Update

Dear HMS Families,

Thank you so much to all of the families that helped at the dance or donated items. It was a huge success, with 270 students in attendance. We can't wait for the next dance!

We are excited to start Quarter 2 with a Spirit Week hosted by Student Leadership. Each day is $1.00 to participate, as it is a fundraiser for further student activities and events. Here are the themes for this week:

For Friday's dress down, please remember that costumes should be school-appropriate! No weapons or anything that would be a banned item. Students should be able to participate comfortably in learning throughout the day.

We are excited to meet with families again during Parent Teacher Conferences, which will be held on Thursday, November 6th, from 1:15–4:15 PM and 5:00–7:30 PM. Here are the grade-level-specific letters for families to use to sign up for a conference with the teacher(s) you would like to meet with during the time that works best for you.

Friday was the end of Quarter 1. Progress reports will be emailed out on Friday, October 31st.

7th-grade families, please be reminded that the Springfield Trip Deadline is Wednesday, October 29th. Wednesday is the last day to register and pay for your 7th-grade child to attend the trip to Springfield on April 24th. Any 7th-grade student who is not registered by Wednesday, October 29th, will not be able to attend the trip.

Our school is excited to provide each student with an iPad to support learning both in and out of the classroom. In order to ensure that devices are used responsibly and remain in good condition, we ask families and students to review the Digital Agreement by filling out this Google Form.

We utilize an app called PBIS Rewards where students earn points throughout the school year for being Responsible, Respectful and Safe. We have a PBIS store that we open for students to purchase fun items with their points. We also do raffles, field trips and a winter extravaganza that students can utilize their points throughout the year. We encourage students to use their points by the end of the year as they do not roll over!

This week, students will download STOPit to their iPads. This is an online application that Heritage students have access to. This application allows students to anonymously report incidents of bullying, misconduct or general concerns. All reports go to the support service team and administration, which allows us to act quickly and in real time to any concerns or incidents.

Students at Heritage receive free breakfast and lunch each day if they choose to participate, or they may bring their own lunch from home. As a healthy school, we ask that students do not bring pop, energy drinks, or large bags of snacks.

Breakfast will be served each morning before students head to their Period 1 class. Lunch will take place at the scheduled time according to the bell schedule, and students will also have the option to participate in recess during their lunchtime.
