Announcements Announcements

Congratulations!!!!

We would like to congratulate and thank all of our students for a great California Trip this weekend. We are extremely proud of our students and their performance at the Bands of America California Regional!!! Their hard work and performance earned them Outstanding Music and GE in Class 3A, Class 3A Champions, and a 9th place final placement in a regional that consisted of some of the top bands in our country. We now push this week to the final stretch for Area!!!

As always, we want to thank our amazing parents and volunteers who help made this trip successful for our students. From watching over them at every location, to feeding them, to helping with equipment, to showing up as an army in the stands!!! We are truly grateful to have the village we have raising our students. Thank you!!!

The Final Stretch, The Final Week

It's crazy to believe, but the end is just about here. As we head into UIL Area week, we head into the final stretch of our marching season. This is where all of the hours, hard work, and dedication has led to. This week we head to Midland/Odessa for our UIL Area Contest, we will compete against all of the 6A programs from the El Paso, Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, and San Angelo Area.

We will push through the end this weekend, and all rehearsals will be mandatory. We spoke with the students and reminded them that this is where we show every award they've received was earned, not given. This is our chance to show the Area that Eastwood truly is a top band, and we're here to stay.

We will leave Friday morning, have an afternoon rehearsal in Midland and stay the night. Contest will be Saturday, and students will be bused back immediately after (prelims or finals, depending where we finish). The itinerary for the trip can be found below.

The Competitive Edge This Week! Show Up To Rehearsals

As we have always stated since the beginning; While we promise all students will perform at games, we cannot promise that all students will march at contest. This week is our biggest week, and we must treat it as such. The UIL Area Competition will be the most competitive contest we have been to, and as a program we must be the best possible. With that being said, we cannot promise students will switch between Prelims and Finals. The directors will discuss will be the best possible choice for the program going into Prelims, and if we are selected into Finals, we will discuss what is the best choice for Finals.

Please note that these choices will be based on the student's attendance, how well they have adapted to changes, and how well they have executed their music and spots this year and this week. Remember, UIL no longer cares about how "cool" or "nice" our show is. There is no GE. The old traditional judging of UIL cares about who sounds and plays the best, and who looks the cleanest. Thank you!

Ineligible Students for the 9-Weeks

This is a reminder that any student who failed the 9-Weeks is deemed ineligible and may NOT go with us to the Area trip this weekend.

Fall Concert Postponed!!!!

As you may remember, we originally had a Fall Concert for our Wind Symphony and Symphonic Bands scheduled for this Wednesday. Due to the focus and success we have had during the marching season, we have moved our concert to November 18th. Thank you!
