Your continued support, encouragement, and involvement play such an important role in our school community. Thank you for attending our Thanksgiving Luncheon, our students were excited to see you made and spent the time with them. From all of us at Dr. Green Elementary we wish you and your family a joyful and restful Thanksgiving week filled with love and appreciation.

We also want to encourage to attend Wellness Wednesday this week during your children's PE time. We've loved to see you then!

Reading Corner
Why Reading Matters:
Reading builds vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence. Daily reading—even for 10–15 minutes—makes a big difference! Please make reading a daily routine!!
Tips for Home:
Read together and talk about the story.
Ask questions like: “What do you think will happen next?” or “Why did the character do that?”
Visit your local library or use free online resources like https://www.getepic.com or https://www.storylineonline.net.
Let your child pick books about topics they are interested in.
Math Matters
Building Number Sense: Strong number sense helps children understand math concepts beyond memorization.
Tips for Home:
Practice math facts with games (card games, dice, or apps like https://www.prodigygame.com).
Use real-life math: cooking (measuring), shopping (adding prices), or counting change.
Encourage your child to explain their thinking when solving problems.

Thanksgiving break is right around the corner! Below are some fun literacy activities you can do with your family:
Read Thanksgiving books
Read-aloud countdown: Choose a different Thanksgiving book to read each day leading up to the holiday. You can find many books for free on sites like YouTube.
Book recommendations: Read classic stories like 'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving, which is about children saving turkeys on a farm.
Book Bingo: Create a simple bingo card with squares that include activities like reading a Thanksgiving book, reading a new book, or reading out loud.
Play Thanksgiving word games
Thanksgiving Pictionary: Draw Thanksgiving-related pictures for others to guess.
Thanksgiving word scramble: Write down Thanksgiving words for family members to unscramble.
Gratitude-themed word association: Go around in a circle, with each person saying what they are thankful for. The next person has to say something that starts with the last letter of the previous word.
Read and write for gratitude
Gratitude list: Have everyone write down one thing they are thankful for on a piece of paper and attach it to a "thankful turkey" craft.
"I'm Thankful" journal: Encourage everyone to keep a gratitude journal and write down a new entry each day, drawing a picture to go along with it.
Create a thankfulness banner: Decorate a banner with strips of paper, with each person writing what they are thankful for on a strip before adding it to the banner.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Counselor's Corner- Ms. Moreno
Dear Families,
I would like to encourage to attend our Coffee with the Counselor meeting this Tuesday at 8:30 am. I would be covering important parental topics and will be answering questions you may have.
The Core Essential Value for November is:
Trust - Putting your confidence in someone you can depend on.
SEE IT:
Read the following quotes about trust and have each family member pick their favorite. Tell
each other why it is your favorite and what it means to you.
“To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved.” — George MacDonald
“Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most important ingredient in effective communication. It’s
the foundation of healthy relationships.” — Stephen Covey
“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.” — William Shakespeare
“A healthy relationship is built on unwavering trust.” — Unknown
“Trust is the fruit of a relationship in which you know you are loved.” — Joyce Brothers
“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important
matters.” — Albert Einstein
“Trust, but verify.” — Ronald Reagan
“Trust has to be earned, and should come only after the passage of time.” — Arthur Ashe
“Consistency is the true foundation of trust.” — Roy T. Bennett
BE IT:
As a family, create a quote about trust. Decide why it is important, how it supports the family,
how it improves your life and others’ lives, and the positive impact it could have on the
world. Once you have a quote that summarizes the importance of trust, write it on a poster
and hang it where the whole family can read it every day. Look for ways your family can build
trust with each other and become people others can trust.
