ATLAS End of Year Testing
As we approach the end of the school year, our students will be participating in ATLAS summative assessments. These tests are an important tool that help us understand each student’s academic progress and growth over the year.
The data gathered from ATLAS assessments allows our educators to make informed decisions about student placement, identify areas of strength, and provide targeted support where it’s needed most. This ensures that every student is set up for success as they move into the next grade level.
We encourage families to support their students by ensuring they are well-rested, arrive on time, and approach testing with a positive mindset. Thank you for partnering with us to help every student achieve their best!
Honors Night
Join us for Honors Night at East End Middle on May 4th at 6:00 PM! This event is open to all students in Grades 5–8 and their families who are currently in—or interested in—accelerated/honors classes in math, science, or ELA. Learn more about course opportunities, high school credit, graduation requirements, and how to plan for academic success. We hope to see you there!

Nurse's Corner
There are a few rescreens that need to be done and if needed referral letters will be going out soon. Testing is around the corner, it is important that your student gets enough rest and has a good breakfast to fuel them.
The Reminders:
Good rest and a good breakfast is also important for successful testing. All students get a free breakfast at school.
If your child is struggling with mental health or if you have concerns, here's a resource for parents: Supporting Kids’ Mental Health a Guide for Parents and you can always reach out to the school for more resources or help.
Please make sure your child is up to date on immunizations or that their exemption is up to date. Exemptions need to be renewed every new school year. If you’re not sure about your child’s status, please don’t hesitate to contact the school nurse.
Parents/guardians this first time dropping off your student’s meds with the nurse will take some time: forms and consents need to be signed and meds need to be counted.
If your child has a health condition, please inform the school nurse. We want to keep all our students safe and make sure they are receiving proper care while at school.
If your child needs a check-up, immunizations, or is feeling ill our Jacket Health and Wellness Clinic is convenient and quick. For more information click the link Jacket Health or call (870) 484-4411 to set up an appointment.
Please keep your child at home if they have a fever, vomiting, or have diarrhea. Students must be 24 hrs without fever or symptoms in order to return to school. If your child has flu-like symptoms please take them to be checked by their doctor.
Please also let attendance or the school nurse know.
The Sheridan School District is a peanut/tree nut free district. Please do not send or allow your child to bring food items into the school that contain peanuts, peanut products, or tree nuts. This information will be found on the label under ingredients. Due to continual changes in manufacturer packaging and processing, please read the ingredient label to ensure that it does not contain any of the following: peanuts/ nuts, peanut/nut butter, peanut/nut oil, peanut/nut flour, peanut/nut meal, or any of the statements “may contain traces of peanut/nuts.” (M&M’s, Butterfinger).
Parents, be on the lookout for head lice and remind students not to share combs/brushes or clothing items.
Thank you and please contact me with any questions or concerns.
