Fri 30th January

Friday 30th January
A note from Mrs Fitzsimons
Happy Friday everyone,
We have celebrated with our wonderful P7s this week as they received their SEAG results. Every one of them doing themselves and the school proud. We are excited to see what is ahead for all our P7s as they begin the transition to secondary school. It has been a privilege to sit with P7 parents this week and be part of the future decision making.
I can't quite believe that next week is our last before half-term.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs F
Break the Rules Day- Fri 6th Feb
Our School Council are organising a Break the Rules Day on our last day before Half-Term. Your child will have received a letter today which allows them to break up to 5 rules. For every rule they want to break they pay £1. Tick the rules they want to break and put the tick sheet and money in an envelope with their name on and send into school before Friday. All money raised by School Council will go into school funds and be used this school year for a special purchase or treat which all children will benefit from.
P3 CONNECT with St Francis
P3 visited St Francis primary school this week for our second shared education session. Our focus was on connecting. We had Mark from Colours, Ballynahinch in to visit us. We were able to choose an animal to paint. We spent time outside connecting through a range of games and finished our day connecting through structured activities.
Digital Leaders visit the Apple Store
Our P6 and P7 Digital Leaders enjoyed a trip to the Apple Store in Belfast for a training session using an app called GarageBand. 🎶 They had fun creating their own song - learning rhythm basics, experimenting with drums, pre-recorded loops and remix. We hope they’ll be able to demonstrate these skills to their classmates. 🤩 We ended the day with a little treat in McDonalds and a walk through Victoria Square! Well done P6 and P7 Digital Leaders on a very successful outing! 👏
P7 visit Titanic
What a fabulous trip! It started with a guided tour, then the shipyard ride and ended with a workshop on the SS Nomadic. It was a very informative and moving experience for all of us.
Beat the January Blues- Yoga
Our last parent event is on Tuesday night at 7 and is now fully booked. Relax with Lucy in a yoga session and then some lovely wholesome refreshments afterwards. If you have your own mat then bring it with you. If not, don't worry, we have plenty. Looking forward to it.
Save the Date
We are really enjoying our new reading books which Friends of Spa funded. As you will have seen on our School Development Plan, Reading is a strategic intent for the next 3 years. We are putting together a parent session on how to help your child to learn to read and develop a love of reading as they progress through their primary years. This will be one not to be missed. More info will follow.
