A Message from Mrs. Klaas
What a great start to the new school year! There is a lot of new around Farley Elementary including new staff, routines and all the changes a new school year brings, our staff and kids have done amazing. Eating lunch in the middle school has been the biggest adjustment, but with plenty of practice and extra help, the transition as been smooth. We set the foundation for a great school year!
All of our classrooms are in full instructional mode. Some of our classrooms are experimenting with new reading curriculum which has been exciting to see. We plan to make a district decision at the end of the school year for new reading curriculum to be implemented next school year. Our math instruction is still new to us as this is our second year of implementing Bridges math. Students really enjoy number corner and work places that go along with our math instruction.
Finally, we had our first school-wide assembly where we welcomed all students and staff to Farley Elementary. Our fifth graders then led by teaching expectations in multiple areas around the building including lunch room, hallway, restroom and recess. We all work to live and act the Bobcat Way here at Farley Elementary.

A Note from the Nurse's Office
Mrs. Noonan & Mrs. Delaney
We are quickly approaching cold and flu season and wanted to offer some guidance on when to keep students home from school and for how long. Students frequently complain of different symptoms and it can be difficult to determine whether you should keep them home from school or send them. Below are some guidelines to help you determine what the best choice might be for your child…
- Temperature: Per CDC guidelines, 100.4 degrees and above is considered a fever. Students should remain home until their temperature has been normal for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil).
- Vomiting: Students should remain home until there has been no vomiting (without the use of medication) for 24 hours. Please make sure they can eat and drink without vomiting before returning to school.
- · Diarrhea: Please keep students' home until 24 hours after the last loose stool without the use of medication.
- Coughing: This is most likely the hardest symptoms to determine as we all know a cough from bronchitis or a cold can last for weeks and we don’t want students out that long! If they feel okay and the cough is only occasional, then they can return to school. If they continue to have coughing episodes and have difficulty keeping them under control, please keep them home.
- Pain: When a student complains of a sore knee or mild headache, it's just fine to give some Tylenol/Ibuprofen and send to school. Students who complain of pain which is more than mild or minor should stay at home to be monitored.
- Strep Throat: If diagnosed with strep throat, student may return to school 24 hours after antibiotic are started if no fever is present.
