December in the Library

If you haven't visited me in a bit, the library has been decked out in holiday cheer. Swing by to get some Christmas spirit and visit the craft table where you can make a friendship bracelet or ornament, perfect for stocking stuffers or last minute gifts for friends.

Classroom Collaborations!

So many classroom collaborations so far this school year with everything from book speed dating, library scavenger hunts, banned books week, a civil rights presentation, and even forensics!! I have loved every chance to get to know you and your students and look forward to loads more collaborations in the New Year!

Circulation is up!!

Students have checked out nearly 60 percent more books in the 25-26 school year than the 24-25 school year. That may seem like a small milestone to folks, but as a library nerd I can assure you that is huge and I thank you all for coming in, checking out books, sharing suggestions for new books and returning your books in good condition! Here's to reading more in 2026.

NEW BOOKS!

Thanks to the support of Mr. Little, we've added a couple hundred new titles to our library collection and more are on the way!

LHS BOB

Our Battle of the Books team is up and running and gearing up for our competition on March 4 at UNCW.

Writing contests

Nearly 80 of you submitted a short story for the Stranger Sagas Young Writers competition. Stay tuned for information on this in 2026.

Staff Book Club

We started a staff book club this year and our first book was The First Witch of Boston ... We'll be reading "The God of the Woods" by Liz Moore over the break and meet in January to discuss!

Thank You!

This has been the best start to my library career at LHS than I could have ever asked for, and I'm so thankful to all of the students and staff who have made it so! Have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to seeing your faces (in a book) when we return in January!
