In College Station ISD, NJHS is for 8th grade students that have met the academic and behavior requirements to be a member. Nominations are completed in the spring semester of 7th grade year and students are notified of acceptance late in the spring, before school ends.
Once we get into the spring semester, we will send the notifications and applications to students.
Current 7th grade students that are interested in being a member of NJHS should focus on:
- Achieving 93s or higher GPA
- Meeting the classroom behavior expectations
- Meeting school wide behavior expectations
- Work on the 5 Pillars of NJHS. Teachers will evaluate students that are eligible for NJHS Membership when it comes time for nominations in the Spring semester.
The 5 Pillars of NJHS
- Scholarship -- achieving and maintaining a 93 or higher GPA.
- Service -- how do they serve others both inside and outside of AMCMS?
- Leadership -- What leadership characteristics do they display?
- Citizenship -- How do students contribute to being a good citizen?
- Character -- How does the student's personal character and behavior exemplify excellence?
Once accepted, NJHS members are expected to attend monthly meetings, maintain their GPA, and work on community service projects both for AMCMS as well as the outside community.
