This year we have been provided the opportunity to be apart of Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH). Our staff spent time in August working with a strategist from CKH and time to create a space for all of our students to be seen and be heard to feel valued. I am so proud of the work our staff is doing to create calm and joyful spaces for our students. I am hoping you are hearing your child telling you about the GOOD THINGS and AFFIRMATIONS they are sharing with each other and their class social contract. Each month I will share with you a family letter from CKH detailing the focus of the month. As you will see below, September is focused on Empathy. We will be discussing Empathy throughout the school and learning how to be empathetic to others.

Last week we had our first assembly of the school year and it was MAGICAL! We had student leaders help lead the assembly, students shared good things that had happened so far, and our teachers ROCKED their team introductions! This is always such a fun time and full of laughter! Check out pics of our teams below.

The 2025 – 2026 School Year is off to an AMAZING start!!! With a daily rotation of the Specials schedule, it allowed us (Specials Teachers) to meet every student in the building! Students were reminded, or introduced to the P.E. Rules – Be Safe, Be Kind, and Have Fun! As long as we all keep those in mind, it will be a great year! I am really looking forward to all of the activities we will do this year in the gym! Students will have the opportunity to try lots of different sports and games and work on a variety of different skills!

The first rotation with 1st – 5th grades worked on playground games! We discussed that there aren’t any talent scouts out at recess so nothing is that serious! Students were reminded that if something at recess gets intense they should step back/out of the game and take some deep breaths to calm down!

Kindergarten became familiar with all parts of the gym and also worked on body awareness, spatial awareness, and gross motor skills. Kindergartners moved a lot and also played a couple of different games!

Field Day this year will be Thursday, May 7, 2026! This fun-filled day is a student favorite and we LOVE to have lots of parent volunteers for it! There will be more information about this in 2026!

We are off to an amazing start in art this year! Every grade level is starting out with drawing projects to get us in the creative spirit this year! As we progress through the year we will explore more painting, clay and mixed media projects.

ART TO REMEMBER:

The fundraiser isn’t open currently but COMING SOON!

Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art.

There will be one work of art uploaded with your student’s name. However, you are more than welcome to upload a picture or scanned image of any work!

There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Each student has one uploaded work or art, however, you can select any piece of artwork from home as well! You can use art from a club, choose a piece from earlier in the year, or create something new to submit.

To begin the year, students in 3rd and 5th are reviewing classroom expectations and Digital Citizenship skills. The next round will be a design challenge. Also, the Near Space Launch will be in the Fall this year and October 8th is our scheduled date.

Our 5th grade team worked with our district STEM team to create an exciting activity for students to learn about volume and use the engineers design process.

The last three years, we dismissed all elementary schools one hour earlier (1:45PM) every Wednesday to enhance our elementary teachers' professional development and training opportunities. We had such success with this time we will be continuing this again this school year. In addition, for families who participate in after-school childcare, the after-school program will be extended every Wednesday at no additional cost. For families who need care, you can register with our school's program.
