Walled Lake Consolidated Schools' students, families and the community gathered at Walled Lake Northern on Monday, January 15, for its 25th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration.

This year’s theme was “You Belong”. Students from all 19 schools created artwork, which was on display, about what that theme meant to them.

Walled Lake Central senior Ella Fried and Pleasant Lake Elementary 5th-grader Arbor Zellweger received the Alec Bender Friend of Diversity Award, which honors individuals annually who are true friends of multicultural diversity in our school district and community.

Kevin Szawala, also known as “Mr. Peace”, delivered a passionate message of kindness, love and understanding as the keynote speaker. This year’s program also featured music by the Clifford H. Smart Middle School orchestra, Walled Lake Central chamber singers, and Walled Lake Elementary’s Glee Club.

For the Vikings, it was finding out if they could navigate the pressure of South Lyon East's frenetic, full-court, "all gas, no brakes" style of play, without the services of senior point guard Nick Hopkins, who missed the game with a minor injury.

Weekend Food Program Helps Fill Gap and Bellies - United Way for Southeastern Michigan

Since Hospitality House opened its doors in 2002, the client-choice food pantry has been determined to meet the needs of the local community. The organization's Weekend Food Program, which provides a weekend's worth of food to children who are eligible for the free or reduced lunch program, is a continuation of that mission.

WLCSD Calendar Update - School CLOSED on Feb. 27, 2024

Since publishing our current school year calendar in early 2023, the State of Michigan’s legislature recently decided to adjust the date of our state’s upcoming presidential primary from March 12, 2024, to February 27, 2024. As you may know, many of our schools serve as polling places for our local municipalities, and this particular election is sure to draw a larger-than-average voter turnout causing increased foot and vehicle traffic around our schools.

After thorough consideration, the Walled Lake Consolidated School District will be CLOSED on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. We acknowledge the potential inconvenience this calendar change may pose for your family and apologize. This decision is rooted in the unique circumstances surrounding this election; a national election outside the traditional election cycle, and an anticipated larger-than-average voter turnout.
