Hendrickson High School
Message from Principal Grebb:
Another Huge Week for the Hawks!
What an incredible week for Hendrickson! Both soccer teams made the playoffs, with the girls’ team taking home the district championship—what an achievement! Baseball kicked off district play with a win, and the softball team pulled off a dramatic victory with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning to beat the team by the lake. Our choirs were also shining stars, with 4 out of 5 choirs earning sweepstakes at the UIL Choir Competition—amazing work! The Hawk Band represented us proudly at the prestigious Music for All National Conference in Indianapolis—an incredible honor.
And let’s talk about powerlifting—several of our athletes are heading to state, and I’m confident they’ll bring home some hardware.
It's inspiring to see so many great things happening at Hendrickson! But when we return from break, it’s time to lock in. Let’s carry this winning mentality into the classroom by acing our STAAR, EOC, and AP exams. We can be state champs academically too—let’s make it happen and celebrate those results when they roll in!
This week, we also took time to celebrate some of the incredible staff that make Hendrickson the place to be in Texas:
Macie Alston (Intensified Algebra) – Rookie Teacher of the Year
Hellen Barczi (Social Studies) – Teacher of the Year
Clarissa Alvarado (Associate Principal) – Humanitarian of the Year
Congratulations to all of you—you make Hendrickson proud!
We also honored some remarkable milestones in service to the district:
Dana Haub -- 25 years of service
Sara Lucas and Hellen Barczi – 30 years of service
Kimberly Faust – 35 years of service
Carol Peterson – 40 years of service
That’s over 135 years of combined dedication—no wonder Hendrickson is always on top!
Enjoy your Spring Break—you’ve earned it! The work starts back up on Monday, March 24th. Go Hawks!

Tardies
Besides teaching academic content at Hendrickson, we pride our work on teaching life skills that students can take with them into the real world. One of those skills is being early or on time. We have reset tardies for the new year, but have noticed that more students than normal are showing up late for class, especially for the start of the day. We will be closely monitoring the list of students who show up late and assign the appropriate consequence. Please help us remind students that being early or on time is a huge life skill.
See Something, Say Something
The Anonymous Alerts is an anti-bullying and safety app reporting system that helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressure are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome. Students or parents can submit reports such as bullying, cyber bullying, depression, dating violence, drug or alcohol use, threats against the school, weapons on campus, and more.
The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between the submitters (students, parents, or community members) and District administration and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or reveal their identity when submitting a report.
