Welcome Back MES Families,

We were excited to welcome back all of our Sea Lions today following our time off! I hope all of our families had a wonderful Spring Break and you had a chance to spend some amazing time together making wonderful memories!

We had a busy week right before break with Open House, and the photo collages below capture just a bit of all the activity that was happening! Thank you to our amazing students and teachers for all their work! The students were fantastic "tour guides" as they led family members through the room!

We are wrapping up our Character Counts focus on FAIRNESS this week. As you know, “It’s not fair!” is a phrase we often hear from children! Take a moment to share a scenario with your child(ren) and ask them whether something is fair—and, more importantly, why they think so. These simple conversations can lead to meaningful discussions and deeper understanding.

3rd-5th Grade Parents - Please note that our state testing window is from May 4-May 22 including make up days. Information is below for a parent meeting to learn more about the state testing. Having your students at school on those days makes a SIGNIFICANT difference! Students tend to test much better when they're in their own classroom with their own teacher than in a make up setting. Thank you for making arrangements so that your children can be present on those days!

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a child’s success at school. When students are present each day, they build strong routines, stay connected with their classmates, and fully engage in learning. Even a few missed days can lead to gaps in understanding and make it harder for children to feel confident in class. Thank you also for helping your child arrive at school on time and ready to learn. Your partnership makes such a meaningful difference in their growth and success!

Our students in 4th and 5th grade participate in dance during their PE every year. They shared their progress with parents during the week last week! 4th graders performed the African dance and Mexican dances and the African dance particularly brought big smiles to all the kids' faces. 5th graders performed the new dance "Shake the Room," and a hip hop dance. During the 5th grade performance, two students shared what they wrote about their experience with dance as well.

In addition, we had the most amazing Open House and the photos below don't capture it all! :) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
