March 9-22, 2025

Good morning, Cannon Families,

Happy Daylight Savings Time - Don't forget to spring forward one hour!

It's hard to believe but we only have 4 days until Spring Break! As a reminder, there is No School Friday for staff and students and the following week is Spring Break! As we continue to engage our scholars in rigorous instructional time, please remind your Cub to always show Cub PRIDE (Partnership, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Empathy). Every instructional minute counts as our staff works to ensure academic growth for all students.

Please help me by giving a huge shout-out to Owen and Mrs. Donaldson! This clever writer and passionate teacher submitted a Schroeder Grant requesting $1,000 worth of copy paper to help and support our Cannon Community! Here is just another example of how our amazing community comes together to support one another. Thank you, Owen, Schroeder Orthodontics, and Mrs. Donaldson!

We also need to celebrate Melanie Gable and her GT LEADers! They received a grant from the Colleyville Garden Club to help prepare our Cannon garden for spring gardening! Soil, Vegetables, Plants, Fertilizer - oh my!

We can't wait to see our garden SPRING back to LIFE!

Thank you, GT LEADers, Colleyville Garden Club, and Mrs. Gable!

Congratulations to our 2nd and 3rd grade STEM Habit of Mind Hall of Fame Inductees for Being Persistent! STEM teaching and learning is an instructional approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through STEM education practices, students develop key skills including: problem solving, creativity, and critical analysis. We are PROUD to honor our scholars for exhibiting STEM thinking, and we can't wait to celebrate our next group of inductees this Friday.

I'd like to give a STEMtastic Staff Spotlight Shout Out to Deborah Mattox!

Deborah has stepped up to support the specials team and campus at every turn! She is constantly looking out for our staff and students and jumps in to help without request.

Thank you, Deborah, for all you do for our Cannon community!

Beginning on March 10 and continuing monthly, families will receive an Absence Calendar. The purpose of these calendars is to update families on your child’s school attendance for the year. The report will include an attendance score, total number of absences, calendar of dates, and the type of absence recorded as well as a detailed absence breakdown. If your child is scoring in the red or orange, the campus has likely already been in contact regarding attendance. We will continue to reach out to discuss ways we can support your child as needed.

It's time to start thinking about talent show performances! Auditions for the 2025 Cannon's Got Talent Show will take place on Monday, March 24th. That's the Monday we return from Spring Break! If your Cub would like to show off their talents, please complete the 🎤 Cannon's Got Talent Show Participation Form by Monday, March 10th. Look for informational forms in your student's take home folder this week.

Have a wonderful Spring Break with your family and loved ones! We will welcome staff and students back to school Monday, March 24th.

As always, thank you for your parent partnership!

Proud to be your principal,

Dr. Tina Garrett
