It’s hard to believe the last week of school is already here! So much has happened over the past few days (see the wonderful photos below), and we still have more events and celebrations ahead. Be sure to check the calendar at the bottom of this newsletter so you don’t miss a thing.

¡Cuesta creer que ya estamos en la última semana de clases! Han pasado muchísimas cosas en los últimos días (pueden ver las maravillosas fotos más abajo), y aún nos quedan eventos y celebraciones por delante. Asegúrense de revisar el calendario al final de este boletín para que no se pierdan nada.

A HUGE thank-you to all the families who joined us for last week’s events. Your presence and support truly honor the hard work our students have put in all year long.

We are also incredibly grateful to the teachers, students, and parents who met with the Association of Two-Way and Dual Language Education (ATDLE) to share about our Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program. As announced in the Superintendent’s message, our DLI program has received the 2025 ATDLE District of Distinction Award! ATDLE shared that “your DLI pathway is clearly becoming one of the strongest in the State,” and highlighted the leadership of our teachers and administrators. We are thrilled to receive this honor and so proud of our community!

También estamos profundamente agradecidos con los maestros, estudiantes y familias que se reunieron con la Asociación de Educación Bilingüe y de Dos Vías (ATDLE) para compartir sobre nuestro programa de Inmersión en Dos Idiomas (DLI). Como se anunció en el mensaje de la Superintendente, ¡nuestro programa DLI ha recibido el Premio al Distrito de Distinción 2025 otorgado por ATDLE! ATDLE compartió que “su trayecto DLI claramente se está convirtiendo en uno de los más sólidos del estado” y destacó el liderazgo de nuestros maestros y administradores. ¡Estamos encantados de recibir este reconocimiento y muy orgullosos de nuestra comunidad!

If you would like to learn more about our 4-5th grade instrumental Music Program, you can check out this informational preview slide deck, which details each of the instrument options available to students. The last slide contains an interest form. This is not required for inclusion in the program next year, as we will still have our standard demonstration assembly and registration period to ensure all students are included.

We are seeking dedicated parents and caregivers to join next year’s School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). These important committees help shape decisions about school programs, funding, and academic goals, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive. Serving on SSC or ELAC is a meaningful way to be involved in your child’s education and make your voice heard in our school community. Whether you are passionate about supporting English learners or contributing to the broader direction of McKinley, we need your perspective.

Estamos buscando padres, madres y cuidadores comprometidos que deseen unirse el próximo año al Consejo Escolar (SSC) y al Comité Asesor de Estudiantes de Inglés (ELAC). Estos comités son fundamentales para ayudar a tomar decisiones sobre los programas escolares, la financiación y las metas académicas, asegurando que todos los estudiantes tengan la oportunidad de crecer. Formar parte del SSC o ELAC es una manera significativa de involucrarse en la educación de su hijo/a y hacer que su voz se escuche en nuestra comunidad escolar. Thank you to all who shopped and supported our school and our teachers at our Spring Book Fair! A huge shout out to our parent volunteers: Joaquin Anguera, Meghan Ballmer, Steve Ballmer, Iglika Boyanova, Kara Chang, Carmen Edelman, Cathy Garcia, Jodie Keegan, Mark Kennedy, Vea Petinarki, Ann Wang Reed, and Christine Walsh for making the book fair wonderful for our students and raising money for our teachers! 👏

We made a grand total of $9,865.53! That means $4,932 goes to McKinley teachers Scholastic dollars account to spend on books and supplies! 💰

Field Day is Wednesday, June 11 and the excitement is already building! The grade level colors are listed below. Please have your child wear a shirt in their designated color if possible. And don't forget to have your child gear up with sunscreen, athletic shoes, a hat, and a water bottle!
