MSM Family Connection Newsletter

The MSM Marching Band brought the energy to Buffalo’s Italian Heritage Motorcade on October 10th! As the only marching band in the 22nd Annual Italian Heritage Motorcade, our musicians proudly represented Mount St. Mary Academy while celebrating the traditions and culture of Buffalo’s Italian community.

The band wowed the crowd with its performance of Trombone Shorty’s “Buckjump,” featuring exciting new horn moves that added even more flair to the show! As New York State’s only all-girl high school marching band, our talented musicians continue to make their mark through their creativity, confidence, and school spirit.

The motorcade was also a great opportunity to prepare for an exciting trip ahead: in February, the band will travel to Disney to perform at the Magic Kingdom!

While the celebration highlighted a culture beyond their own, our musicians were thrilled to join in the festivities and help celebrate the vibrant community that makes Buffalo so special. We are so proud of our marching band and can’t wait to see where their talent takes them next!

Mount St. Mary Academy is excited to welcome the Western New York Consortium of Higher Education to campus!

Juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to meet with college admissions representatives from across Western New York in our gym on Monday, October 26, from 10:45–11:15 AM. Students can learn more about the participating colleges and ask questions about academic programs, campus housing, tuition, financial aid, student clubs, and more.

Get ready to explore local colleges and universities, make connections, and discover what each school has to offer!

There are only 3 weeks until the MSM Meat Raffle! We hope you’ll join us on Friday, November 6, for a fun evening of food, drinks (included with admission!), and plenty of chances to win!

Share what you love about MSM with a prospective family (must be a new, not previously engaged family), and so long as they register, your family's tuition account will be credited with $500! The MSM Office of Enrollment and Family Engagement will take care of the rest.

Important details: The new family must register (not just inquire) for you to receive the credit. The new family should have a current 8th grader, or student is able to transfer and begin at MSM this school year or next in order for the credit to apply to your billing account.

• What classes are you teaching, or what is your position at MSM this year? Director of Enrollment and Family Engagement

• Where did you go to college, and what did you study? Canisius University for both my undergraduate and master’s studies in Psychology and Mental Health Counseling.
• A fun or interesting fact about me: I love to cook, and we make a themed Bills meal each week for the season - the food matches the city of our opponent. Best opponent city food, New Orleans!
• One of my heroes/heroines is: My Dad - he works hard, is humble, patient and steady.
• My favorite thing to do in Buffalo is: Visiting libraries, parks, new restaurants... there's always good things to do in Buffalo!
• My favorite hobby or way to spend my free time is: Cooking or reading, and playing with Jack!
• A piece of advice I would give to our students is: Slow down and enjoy where you're at. Also, it's brave to ask for help!
• My favorite part about the MSM community is: Our students are amazing - they are going to change our world for the better.
