PWB Parent's Weekly
October 24, 2026
"Every Day is Game Day"
As we close out this work week and look ahead to a fresh start on Monday, I want to thank you for your ongoing partnership in making this a successful school year. As we head into next week, we want to emphasize a few critical focus areas to ensure our students remain safe, focused, and on track to finish the semester strong.
Please review these important updates and discuss them with your student this weekend:
- Punctuality & Attendance Matter: Please ensure your student is arriving at school on time each and every day. Missing the start of the day disrupts learning and sets a chaotic tone for the student. Let's make every minute count!
- Check PowerSchool Grades: With the end of the semester approaching, please log into PowerSchool this weekend to check your child's academic standing. Staying proactive now ensures there are no surprises at report card time. If you notice your student is falling behind, please reach out to their teacher immediately. It is my desire that teachers respond in a timely manner. Be sure to notify an administrator as soon as possible, if you need assistance contacting a staff member.
- Attendance Excuses: If your child has missed days recently and you have medical or parent excuses that need to be turned in, submit them immediately. Please note that we will only accept and post excuses strictly according to the guidelines outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. Late or non-compliant notes will not be processed.
- Daily Code of Conduct Reminders: Please speak with your student about the importance of adhering to our school policies daily, specifically:
- Getting to class on time: Hallway tardiness cuts into instructional time and will be addressed according to policy.
- Obeying the Focus Act (Yondr Pouches): Cell phones must be secured in locked Yondr pouches upon entering the building. Violations will result in disciplinary action.
- Reporting issues to adults: Encourage your student to immediately report any issues, concerns, or safety matters to a teacher, counselor, or administrator so we can handle them safely and promptly.
- Weekend Bag Checks: Because students often stay with friends, visit family, or travel over the weekend, please be mindful of what your child is bringing back to school on Monday. Take a moment to check their backpacks and personal items to ensure they do not accidentally have any prohibited items in their possession.
Thank you for working alongside us to keep our campus safe, positive, and focused on academic excellence. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!
Warm regards,
Eric F. Hines,
Principal
Core Values
Our core values represent who we are as a school and our commitment to growing strong, well-rounded leaders inside the classrooms and throughout our communities. We will do all things with excellence and strive towards exhibiting our values and mission each and every day.
Average Daily Attendance (Week of October 23)
Thank you for an incredible week of learning and engagement! Our school-wide Average Daily Attendance (ADA) for this week is down a tad from 95.45, to 94.80, a decrease of .65%.
To help us maintain and build on this momentum, please keep the following attendance protocols in mind as part of your weekly routine:
- Notice Daily Absences: Make it a habit to actively note who is missing each day. A quick acknowledgment when they return shows students they are missed and valued.
- Proactive Parent Check-ins: If a student is absent, consider reaching out to the parent or guardian via email or parent square, just to check in, offer support, and help them stay caught up on schoolwork.
- Escalate Critical Concerns: Please immediately flag and report to our social worker, counselor, or administration if a child:
- Is absent for two or more consecutive days.
- Shows a chronic pattern of missing excessive days (e.g., missing every Monday or multiple days a month).
Thank you for your continuous dedication to our students' success and well-being. Regular attendance is the first step to academic achievement, and your daily vigilance makes all the difference!
Welcoming Mrs. Kendrica Moise to Stampede Nation!
I want to share some news regarding a change in our school's front office. We are incredibly excited to announce that Mrs. Kendrica Moise is joining us as our new school secretary. She is eager to support our students, parents, and community, so please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
If you have any questions, need assistance, or need to reach the main office, you can contact Mrs. Moise directly at kmoise@tusc.k12.al.us or by calling the school's main phone line.
With this new chapter, we also want to share that Mrs. McCaskill has transitioned into a new position within the school district. We deeply appreciate everything she has done for our families and wish her continued success in her new role.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we welcome Mrs. Moise to our school community!
Monday Marks the Start of Red Ribbon Week!
This Monday marks the official start of Red Ribbon Week! This annual national campaign is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. This year's theme is “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.”
We invite all students, parents, and community members to actively participate. Research shows that children whose parents talk to them regularly about the dangers of substance abuse are significantly less likely to use drugs. We encourage you to use this week as an opportunity to start or continue these open, meaningful conversations at home.
To show our collective commitment at school, we will host fun, theme-based dress-up days all week long! Please help your student join in the fun. Next weeks schedule and daily themes are attached.
Let’s work together to inspire our youth and show them that everyday choices can make a true hero!

Our current tutoring schedule is as follows:
Math Tutoring: Mondays and Thursdays – Mr. Brinyark
Science Tutoring: Tuesdays – Mrs. Marlow

A few important reminders for students and families:
Registration is required to participate in the program and use transportation.
Transportation is available for students who register for it.
A meal and snack are provided daily.
Once students register, they may begin attending sessions.
When students are dismissed from their 5th-period class, they should report directly to the cafeteria to check in.
Please help spread the word to those who may benefit from additional academic support.

Mandatory Student Password Reset on Wednesday, October 28
Please review this critical security update regarding all Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS) high school student accounts.
TCS has recently seen a significant spike in phishing emails targeting high school student accounts. Unfortunately, at least one of these cyber incidents resulted in the theft of funds from a student's family. To secure our students' digital identities and protect our families, TCS will force a mandatory password reset for all high school student accounts on Wednesday, October 28.
Please review the instructions below so your student is prepared for this change:
- What to expect on Wednesday, October 28: When students log in on this date, they will enter their current password first. The system will then immediately prompt them to change it before allowing access to their account.
- New password requirements: The system will reject weak or repeated passwords. The new password must be completely different from previous passwords and contain at least 8 characters, including one or more of each of the following:
- An uppercase letter (A-Z)
- A lowercase letter (a-z)
- A number (0-9)
- A special character (e.g., !, @, #, $)
- Virtual students: This mandatory reset applies to everyone. Virtual students working away from the campus will follow the exact same process when logging in from home on Wednesday.
Parents, please talk to your children about the importance of digital safety, avoiding suspicious links, and keeping their login credentials completely private. Thank you for your swift cooperation in helping us secure our school community.
