What's Happening at DATA
Hello all,
Welcome to the last newsletter of the 2024-2025 school year!
These last few weeks will be a whirlwind and a lot of information to wrap up the year is coming fast and furious. We still need our students to show up and attend all of their classes; even if they think they are "done" because they have taken STAAR or their AP Exam. Attendance for credit for a course still applies. Even for seniors.
Library books, textbooks, and chromebooks will need to be turned in. Students will need to be checking their student emails for reminders. Students in athletics, fine arts, spirit, etc may also have uniforms and equipment to turn in as well. Let's avoid having to pay any fees at graduation time for something that didn't get turned in freshmen or sophomore year.
Summer school for all students at DATA/Roosevelt is free this year. This is a great opportunity to get ahead for some courses. Please reach out to Mrs. Lockamy or myself about summer school for advancement.
Seniors and all things graduation can be found in the linked button below.
We also need EVERYONE to complete the transportation form for next year which you can find below.
And did you hear about the exciting enhancement coming to the DATA program? Beginning 2026-2027 we are enhancing our program by transforming into a Pathways in Technology Early College High School! For our students enrolling next school year and our currently enrolled students, there are no changes. If you are interested in taking a look at what the P-TECH program will offer, click on the DATA P-TECH button down below.
Until next year,
Christie Szabo
Magnet Transportation Sign Up - Required to Be Completed By ALL Magnet Families
We have transportation changes to let you know about that we hope will offer our magnet families more flexibility and convenience. For the 2025-26 school year, we will implement a bus rider registration process for all middle and high school magnet students who are interested in transportation to/from their magnet campus. This means:
- Families will have an option to select their bus stop location rather than defaulting to your “home campus.”
- The Transportation Department can more effectively plan for bus participation and decrease the likelihood of overcrowding.
- Bus reliability will be improved.
The registration process is now open and the deadline to register is Tuesday, June 10, 2025. We are asking all middle and high school magnet families to complete the registration form even if they do not want bus service.
High School magnet program families should register here
Students who are registered for their magnet shuttle by June 10, 2025 will be guaranteed bus service on the first day of school. Students who miss the bus registration deadline of June 10 will be placed on a waiting list. All students on the waiting list will receive bus service, but it may not be until after the week of August 25, 2025 as our Transportation Department makes route adjustments.
Thank you for your attention to this request and for choosing North East ISD.

Student Opportunities
VOE Information ** Summer Appointments
For any student who will be needing a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) for their driver's license, they must already have their appointment scheduled. Additionally, the VOE request must be submitted at least one week in advance of the appointment. All VOEs are requested from Ms. Tiller (located in the DATA building, Office D26). Please do not submit your request more than one week in advance.
To be eligible for a VOE, students must be currently enrolled in school AND the student must have received CREDIT for all classes in the prior semester. If credit was not received, then the school must review the attendance history and determine that the student was there 90% of the time each class was offered. The school will supply the VOE, the student does not need to submit the form.
****Same Day Requests Will Not Be Honored****
If you will need a VOE during the summer, please submit your request prior to the last day of school. It will be valid for the summer break.
Attendance Reminders
Excessive Absences Can Cost Your Student Credit for a Class
If your student is absent, it's important to submit any documentation for absences to TR Attendance Office. Your student should drop off all notes to the TR Attendance office located in the main foyer of the TR main building. Your doctor can fax a note directly to the office, the fax number is 210-650-1291. Documentation can also be emailed to the attendance clerks, Ms. Margaret Quinn at mquinn2@neisd.net or Ms. Jessica DeLeon at jdeleo8@neisd.net. Attendance Matters All Day Everyday!
If you have an unexcused absence, the classroom teacher does not have to award full credit for make up work. The teacher can deduct up to 20% of the final grade according to NEISD grading policy. So, turn in those notes!
Saturday School Information ** ONLY 1 Opportunity Left
If your student is in need of Saturday school, you will receive an email from Mrs. Szabo with this information. TR Administration will consistently send out blanket emails to ALL families regardless of a student's need for attendance recovery. When you check Skyward, if your student has more than 9 U or E absences in a class period within a semester, then they will need attendance recovery to earn credit for the class, even if they pass the class.
You CAN NOT attend Saturday School to "bank" hours for future absences or to recover absences to make your attendance eligible for semester exam exemptions.
ONLY GO TO SATURDAY SCHOOL IF MRS. SZABO HAS CONTACTED YOU!
If your student does not attend a Saturday School that they signed up and paid for; there are no refunds.
High-level overview of the upcoming enhancement to our DATA Program!
