Parent Update 2025
Watertown High School
Parent Update 12.5.25
Thank you for a successful first trimester! We truly value our partnership with parents and appreciate the many ways you support your student’s success.
A special thank you as well to the families who completed the WHS parent survey. Your feedback provides valuable insight into the experiences of our students and families, and it helps guide our ongoing efforts to strengthen our school community.
As part of the survey, we also invited families to give a “shout out” to staff members who have made a positive difference in their student’s experience at WHS. We were thrilled by the number of responses we received. These messages were shared directly with staff, and as you can see here, Ms. Suski and Ms. Gilbert-Crane were among those recognized with certificates. We love celebrating the relationship-building and meaningful connections happening every day.
Throughout the year, if there is a staff member you would like to recognize for their work with your student, please feel free to email me at any time—you don’t need to wait for another survey widikerj@mywusd.org. We will gladly celebrate their impact.
Thank you for your continued support of WHS.
Jason Widiker, WHS Principal
Student Services Update
Thank you to all of the families who have scheduled and/or attended Junior Conferences so far. Your partnership is a huge contribution to future planning for our students, programming, and our community. If you still would like to make an appointment, please do so by December 23, 2025.
Registration rollout will begin shortly after winter break, and we want our juniors to be as prepared as possible to choose courses for next year. Please use this LINK and click on your child's counselor name to make an appointment. Thank you!

Student Attendance Rewards
We are pleased to share information about the Trimester 1 Attendance Reward! Students who met the criteria of 98% attendance, no late arrivals, and no unexcused absences will receive this recognition. Students who met the criteria were emailed an invite for a walking field trip to Kwik Trip in the month of December. Students wishing to participate will need parent permission which will be emailed out to those families next week. Thank you for maintaining such dependable and consistent attendance.
We’re happy to share that we will have a Trimester 2 Attendance Reward Program and we’d love your partnership in helping students feel motivated and supported each day. Students who earn 95% attendance (no lates or unexcused attendance) for trimester 2 will have a chance to win a prize. We know that consistent attendance helps students feel connected, confident, and successful, and this is a wonderful opportunity to cheer them on together. Thank you for all you do to encourage your child—your support truly makes a difference.
Daily Attendance Reminders
As we wrapped up Trimester 1 and began Trimester 2, we have been very flexible regarding attendance referrals and missing ELTs. Moving forward, please remind your student to check their school email every day. If students do not receive an email from Securly Flex about their ELT location, students must login directly to Securly Flex.
If an attendance concern arises, students will have 48 hours to resolve the issue before a referral is issued. Your support in encouraging consistent communication and timely follow-up is greatly appreciated.
Student Detention Reminders
A friendly reminder, per the WHS school handbook, once a student accumulates four hours of after school detention time, a morning Out of School Suspension is assigned the following day.
After school detention time can be served every Wednesday from 2:20-3:20 p.m. or another time before or after school, if worked out between the student, Associate Principals or Dean of Students. After school detention time may not be served during the student's school day or during the lunch hour.
