Unity Day - Keeping our Golden Bear CommUNITY Strong
We are excited to share with you that our school community will be celebrating Unity Day on Wednesday, October 21st this year. Unity Day is an annual event occurring during National Bullying Prevention Month in October that promotes joining together to create healthier communities through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. It was started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011 and is now celebrated around the world. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to talk to your children about bullying prevention and all the positive things we can do to make healthier communities.

FAMILY FUN FAIR THIS FRIDAY - OCTOBER 23RD
The Family Fun Fair is the biggest FUNdraiser of the year for our PTA. I genuinely LOVE this event for bringing our Hollow Hills community together. While I love this event for bringing our community together, the reality is that this is a fundraiser which allows special programs for our students to continue.
Your generous donations of time, items, and money enable Hollow Hills to continue to offer programs such as Music, STEAM, Ceramics and Great Works of Art. Although not ideal, postponing was a safety necessity. Your continued support of this event and subsequently, the programs this event funds for our Golden Bears, is greatly appreciated.
Although this postponement has impacted the ability of some families to participate in the event itself, your continued support of the event despite the date change helps the special programs our students love to continue. You still have a chance win baskets, lunch with a teacher, etc. See below for opportunities to use place tickets in raffle baskets throughout the week.
Basket Preview and Ticket Pick-Up: New dates/times added!
i. Tuesday, October 20th from 4:30pm – 6:00pm
ii. Wednesday, October 21st from 1:05pm – 3:05pm
iii. Thursday, October 22nd from 1:05pm – 3:05pm
Tickets and Baskets – You do NOT need to be present to win! Families can still participate and win the chance to win an incredible basket even if you cannot attend the new date.
Red Ribbon Week: Friday, Oct. 23rd - Thursday, Oct. 29th
Poster and Essay Contests

Hero Day Parade
The final day of Red Ribbon Week falls on Thursday, October 29th. To empower our students on the final day of this nationally recognized week, students in grades K-5 are encouraged to dress up as a hero. Students are welcome to dress up as a "super hero" from Marvel or DC or a "real life" hero such as a first responder (police/fire), member of the armed forces, doctor/nurse, etc. There is no need to buy anything new for this dress up day. From a super hero t-shirt to a kitchen towel cape to a full hero costume, students can participate at any level. Please take special care to follow dress code rules, including no masks or props, and we kindly request that you do not send your child to school in a Halloween costume outside of this theme and these guidelines. For our littlest heroes, please consider your child's ability to get into and out of their hero attire independently for using the restroom.
In addition to this fun theme, we will celebrate all heroes with a "Parade of Heroes" at 8:30am on October 29th. Parents and family members who are real life heroes are encouraged to join our heroes on the blacktop. Hollow Hills has many parents/family members who are police, fire, current military and/or military veterans, doctors, nurses, etc. To honor our local heroes and provide our students with a real life example of the power they have to serve and help others, we welcome you to join us. Please wear your hero uniform when you join our circle of heroes on the blacktop. For those grown-ups who wish to join the "Parade of Heroes" as spectators, we will have a designated viewing area near the playground area/blacktop for you to view the parade and take many pictures of your little hero as they walk the parade route. We ask that parent spectators enter the campus through the blacktop gate no earlier than 8:15am on the morning of October 29th to view the parade.
Parents, guardians, family members and family friends are invited to participate in the Parade of Heroes!! Please join the Circle of Heroes in whatever capacity you are able. From joining in uniform to bringing an emergency vehicle, any level of participation is welcomed and encouraged! To help us plan for you and any special accommodations you may require, please complete the form below. Thank you for being a real life example to our students of courage, citizenship, patriotism, integrity, commitment, and sacrifice.
Looking ahead....
