Monarch Marching Band Finishes 3rd at State!
What a TERFFIFIC season!
Under the leadership of Monarch’s NEW director Mr. Tyler Vandermeer, after 3 long months of practicing their music, choreo and drill, every single member of the Monarch HS Marching Band was “locked in” at the Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA) State Competition which took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. After a disappointing 7th place at Regionals, the band collectively doubled down during their last week of rehearsal to perfect the show. As a result, they were able deliver a great performance during Quarterfinals, swiftly advancing them to the Semifinals where they rose up from 7th to 4th place. They then delivered their best performance yet during Finals securing them 3rd place overall (out of 22 4A bands in the state).
The show, titled Magnus Opus, featured music from Little Women, Southern Harmony and Dum Spiro Spero. The performance was based on the story of Charlotte's Web.
To add a bit of sentiment to this story, just at the moment of countdown before they entered the field….10, 9, 8, 7, 6….a monarch butterfly was spotted fluttering over the 50 yard line. Talk about an omen for success!!
The band members ended the night, very excited, chanting “Proud to Be a Monarch Coyote”.
