Panther Weekly
December 8 - December 14
We would like to welcome you to take a look back at 50 years of Parkview!
This year we are excited to celebrate Parkview's 50th Anniversary. Over the school year, you may notice our clubs, athletics and activities all finding a way to join in the celebration. They may have alumni at their games, guest conductors at their concerts or 50th themed events.
In this section we will feature images and facts about Parkview's first 50 years!
Music to Our Ears
Over the years, Parkview has developed a vibrant Fine Arts program, which prominently includes our chorus. In the last 50 years, our school has seen just three dedicated chorus teachers: Ms. Joyce Edwards, followed by Mr. Richard Magner, and currently, Mr. Gus Godbee.
Our chorus classes actively participate in numerous school events, host annual concerts, and just returned from a performance where they were invited to perform for the Gwinnett County principals and cluster superintendents.
If you’re eager to witness their talent, mark your calendars for their annual winter performance on Thursday, December 11, at 7:00 PM, taking place at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Stone Mountain.
NTHS Support the Lilburn Police Department
Police Officer Thank You Cards
Parkview National Technical Honor Society had their first grammar workshop for this semester. Members applied what they learned during the workshop presentation to create thank-you cards for the officers at our local Lilburn Police Department.
Police Officer Donations
National Technical Honor Society at Parkview had the honor to partner with our local Lilburn Police Department. Thank you to all of the NTHS members who participated in donating snacks and drinks for our hardworking officers. This success would not have been possible without your generosity and cooperation!
Georgia School Climate Survey
Georgia School Climate Survey – Family Survey:
The Georgia School Climate Survey is a state requirement that replaces the Georgia Health Survey. The survey is aligned with Georgia’s Systems of Continuous Improvement and is designed to provide more actionable data for the district and school leaders to make schools a safer and more engaging place to learn. Additionally, our School Climate Star Rating is dependent upon the participation and completion rate of this survey.
The Family Survey is brief and centers around family engagement and communication and engagement ideas.
Please complete the Georgia School Climate – Family Survey and we welcome your feedback.

From the Attendance Office
Dear Parkview Families,
We would like to inform you about the upcoming 1st semester final exams schedule. Please take note of the following important dates and details:
December 16th:
Students will take their 1st period final exam from 7:15 AM to 9:20 AM. There are no check out during this time.
After the exam, students will attend the rest of their classes, but the schedule will be modified.
This is still a traditional school day, and we encourage parents to support attendance so students can prepare for their remaining finals.
December 17th-19th:
We will follow a block schedule for final exams (two exams per day).
Students will take all final exams during the scheduled times based on the exam schedule.
Students will not be allowed to take any exams early.
Students who miss their finals before December 19th should arrange with their teachers to make them up. After December 19th, students with excused or approved absences will need to schedule their final exam make ups in early January.
Students will be released from school at 11:45 AM on these days. We appreciate families planning appointments for after this time.
Important Reminders:
There will be no check-outs from December 17th-19th.
Students who arrive late for exams will be admitted to class, but their exam time will remain as scheduled.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility and hope this information helps you plan accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
Attendance Office Reminders
Excuse Note Reminders
Parents, we appreciate your patience as the county shifts how excuse notes are turned in this year. We have just a few quick tips to make this process continue to be successful.
You must fill in one of the two sections:
- Add a doctor's note or document
- Write in your excuse in the "Note" box.
- Excuse notes can't be reported until 24 hours after the absence.
Student Check-ins/Checkouts:
Students arriving late must enter through the main front entrance. They should check in using the tablets and go directly to class.
All checkouts* must happen before 1:30 PM. No exceptions. This allows us to prepare for dismissal, thank you for your support.
If you know ahead of time your student needs to leave early, you may do the following:
Send a written note with student in the morning. Note must be received by the Attendance Office before 7:15 AM.
The note must include: Student’s first and last name, date and time of checkout, and parent phone number.
The attendance clerk will provide a pass to the student to leave at the designated time without the parent needing to come inside. The students can then checkout at the Attendance Office and meet their parents/guardian outside at the time listed.
Attendance clerks will verify all notes before releasing students. If they cannot reach a parent, the student will not be allowed to check out.
We encourage families to regularly check student attendance in ParentVue.
*Please remember, there are no checkouts during testing blocks
