From the Nest...
Dear Sidener Families,
Happy New Year, and welcome back to school! I hope you and your family enjoyed a restful and joyful holiday season filled with meaningful moments and time together. We are excited to welcome our students back and begin this new year with purpose and momentum.
As we return, our focus remains on high-quality instruction and student growth across all content areas. During this upcoming quarter, students will continue engaging in rigorous learning experiences that emphasize strong literacy and math foundations, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Teachers will be using ongoing assessment data to guide instruction, provide targeted support, and extend learning opportunities for students who are ready for additional challenge.
In addition, our Unified Arts classes will continue to enrich students’ learning through art, music, physical education, and computer science, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience. We are pleased to share that we will have a temporary Computer Science teacher, Mr. Burke, who will be with us three days a week to provide instruction and continued learning opportunities for our students.
Small-group instruction and intervention support will also remain a priority as we work to meet the individual needs of every learner.
As we settle back into our routines, please remember the importance of regular attendance and punctuality. Being present each day is essential to academic success, and we appreciate your continued partnership in supporting strong attendance habits.
Thank you for your ongoing trust and collaboration. We look forward to a strong start to the new year and continued growth for our students and school community.
Warm regards,
Dr. Milanda Penn
