A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Students Use Seatbelts
This morning, our SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club held a seat belt check in our parking lot before school. This campaign was sponsored by Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and Kwik Trip. Students wearing their seat belts were given a free drink coupon to use at Kwik Trip. It was fantastic that 97% of our students were wearing their seat belts when coming into school!
Safety Concerns - Student Drivers Leaving School
Unfortunately, we are seeing some unsafe behaviors when our students are leaving school. Students speeding, squealing tires, doing burnouts, and using our access road rather than the parking lot exit. These behaviors, besides risking injury and damage, can end up with school disciplinary consequences, loss of parking lot privileges, and police citations. We appreciate any help you can give talking with your student driver at home regarding expectations for safe driving.

ACA CTE Student of the Quarter
Congratulations to Dylan for being selected as our Culinary Arts CTE Student Spotlight for the quarter!
Garnishing Unit
High school students in Mrs. Morse's Culinary Arts class just recently completed a unit on Garnishing. They used a variety of produce, tools, and their creativity to create a unique plate presentation.
Physics Fun
Mrs. Whitney's Physics Fundamentals students began their unit about forces in an "explosive" way! We took turns adding rubber bands around the middle of a pumpkin to determine how many it would take for the pumpkin to separate into two pieces. We learned the traditional definition of a force and that each band provides a small amount of applied force. Added together the bands apply enough force to slice a pumpkin in half! A fun time was had by all.
Students Practice Infant Care
Students in the World of Children class recently participated in Infant Care Stations. They had the chance to hold an infant, practice reading a book, diaper/dress an infant, and practice their use of gross and fine motor skills.
"Frightfully Fun Wound Science in Anatomy Class"
Students in Mrs. Whitney's Anatomy & Physiology classes studied wounds and wound repair while celebrating Halloween. We used everyday materials including petroleum jelly, food dye, cocoa powder and toilet paper to create "wounds." Students had to explain the type of wound they created (abrasion, avulsion, puncture, laceration or burn) as well as the mechanism by which their wound would heal if it were real.
10 Buckaroos Opens for Staff and Families
A month of planning, a 12 hour shift, and 20,000 steps later...."10 Buckaroos"-- was open for business on Wednesday, November 5. This event served as a capstone project for the class and provided the students with a "real life" type of experience of working in the Restaurant and Food Service Industry.
Students in Mrs. Morse's Advanced Culinary Arts class applied for their roles and created this restaurant from the ground up. The Front of the House Staff-- Manager Dina, Host Blake, Waitstaff Jayden, Carson, and Vanessa--- decorated the dining room, set the tables, and served the customers. The Back of the House Staff-- Head Chef Dylan and Assistant Chefs Cole, Jazmyn, Walker and Nate-- chose the menu and prepared the food.
The class served over 70 guests for lunch and dinner. The menu consisted of: Buckaroo Burgers, Pulled Pork, and Loaded Mac and Cheese, with an optional side of Ham and Cheese Pasta Salad. Desserts included warm Apple Crisp and Brownie Sundaes.
It was a memorable and enjoyable dining experience for our students, staff, and community. Thank you to all who came to dine and supported this class project.-- Mrs. Cindy Morse

Omro Powerlifting Needs Your Help!
Our current record boards are outdated and show only our past lifters who competed in the "equipped" divisions. This means that they wore squat suits, bench suits, and knee wraps to assist with their lifts. For the past several years, our powerlifters have only participated in the "raw" divisions, which means they do not wear the assistive equipment. We want to continue honoring those lifters who competed equipped by keeping their records in the weight room, but we also want to honor our lifters who have set records in the raw divisions. And that's where we are asking for your help. Please consider making a donation to the Omro Powerlifting Team to help pay for new record boards. The cost of two new record boards (one for boys, one for girls) comes to a total of $710. Any money donated above the $710 will go into the Powerlifting activity account to be used for other costs throughout the year.
You can donate by making a check out to School District of Omro.
Please write "Powerlifting Donation" in the memo line by November 25 and return the envelope to the high school office. Thank you!
