Principal's Message

Sunny Heights Families,

We are back to work at Sunny Heights following our Fall Break. Students and staff have been reestablishing routines, expectations, and procedures while getting right back to quality instruction. It has been great having our hallways and classrooms full of laughter and learning again!

Parents please make note of the upcoming district Strategic Town Hall Meeting @ Sunny Heights Elementary on Wednesday, October 30th at 6:00pm. District personnel will be looking for input from our families and staff as strategic plans are made for the future of Warren Township. We look forward to collaboration with our stakeholders.

Please note that Picture Re-Take day is in the process of being re-scheduled, the October 29th date has been cancelled. Look for more information in the near future.

Sunny Heights Elementary's September Family of the Month

Congratulations to the Ortiz family who is our September Family of the Month. The Ortiz family includes Anabeth Ortiz-Martinez who attends Mrs. Campati's kindergarten class. The September award is a $25.00 gift card to Walmart. Congratulations to the Ortiz family! We love having you here at Sunny Heights!

SAILING 4 SIGHT

Sailing4Sight, a 501 C 3 Public Charity, will be providing free refractions and free eyeglasses to homeless and less fortunate school age children in Warren Township. Parents may contact one of the event coordinators at the numbers included in this article. A reliable phone number from the parent is part of your child's registration. A team of volunteers, along with Dr. Pruitt and staff, will perform free refractions for the children. Sailing4Sight will provide free eyeglasses if needed. Register early, appointments fill up quickly. The event will be hosted at 9948 E. WARREN'S HIGH ABILITY PROGRAM

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. If you would like to complete a recommendation for the broad based planning committee to consider you can do so here 2020-2021 High Ability Parent Recommendation Form The parent recommendation form will be open until January 31, 2020.

Warren Township School District has a new app and website! The purpose of the app and website is to provide regular updates through the live feed, district news, and

district events sections as well as other important district information. The app includes easy access to the weekly breakfast and lunch menu, staff contacts, district documents, bullying and safety reporting form, and much much more. School Weather Closings

The time of the year when school can be delayed or closed due to weather conditions is coming up. If there is a delay or closing, you will receive a call from our automated calling system to the phone number you provided to our school. Please be sure the office has your current phone number.

WINTER OUTDOOR RECESS

It is that time of the year when we need to make sure our children have appropriate clothing for recess. We will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees.
