Important Changes to Prosper ISD Cell Phone Policy

We are writing to inform you of significant changes to our district's cell phone policy that will take effect at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. These changes are required by Texas House Bill 1481, which mandates that all Texas public school districts implement a comprehensive ban on personal communication devices during the school day.

We understand this represents a significant change for some of our students and families, especially our high school students. Our administrative teams are working to develop clear guidelines and procedures to ensure a smooth transition. We will continue to work closely with our students and families to implement this change.

Our goal is to create learning environments where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, free from the distractions that personal communication devices can create. By creating a phone-free climate, we're giving teachers the tools to teach without disruption and students the space to learn, think critically, and engage with one another face-to-face. This policy change aligns with our commitment to providing focused, engaging learning environments where every student can succeed.

We appreciate your partnership and understanding as we work together to implement this significant change.

If you have questions about this policy change or how it may affect your child, please see the 2025-2026 Student Handbook and Code of Conduct, which was approved by the Board of Trustees on July 21, 2025.

Thank you for your partnership as we work together to create focused learning environments that support student success.
