Tech Week Begins now. Monday through Friday 3:15 until 6 PM.
CAST PARTY FORM (fill out by March 11)
Pay to Participate
PAY TO PARTICIPATE
All cast and crew are asked to pay a participation fee. The cast is asked to pay $50 and the tech crew $35. This is designed to allow us to rent/buy some costuming, props, and set materials. What's more, it also gets them a commemorative show T-shirt and entrance to our cast party which includes skate rental, skate time, and bounce area passes. It will be held at the New Rink on Van Dyke, just south of 23 Mile Rd.
We have a link set up for the participation fee: https://www.schoolpay.com/pay/for/Beauty-and-the-Beast-Jr-Fees/MfE2. If it is easier to send in the money in an envelope with your child, you can do that instead. Please put your child's full name, grade, and write Beauty and the Beast Participation fee on the envelope.
Updates
3/8/26
We begin Tech Week tomorrow, Monday the 9th. We will be running it Monday through Friday from 3:15 until 6 PM. Please bring a water bottle, snack, and positive attitude and be ready to work. You must be off script and sing without the guided vocal tracks. We can do this. Let's make magic happen!
2/20/26
First, a big "Thank You!" to all the folks who were able to sign up to volunteer. We have been having help from a few of you and will be contacting more of you coming up.
Second, we need all the parents to fill out the "Cast Party" form found above. We want to get a correct head count and know that students have permission to attend and a ride is arranged. Please have this completed by March 11 so we can get a proper invoice and have a check cut to pay the New Rink. The party is for all cast and crew. It takes place Wednesday, March 25th from 6 PM until 8:30 PM and is located on Van Dyke road south of 23 mile road. There is no cost to the cast and crew. They will get free skate rental, skating time, and bounce time. It would be fun if everyone wears their Beauty and the Beast shirt to the party. Concessions and an arcade are available, but students would be on their own if they want to partake in that. If any parents want to attend to just supervise, you are welcome to do so for free. If any parents or siblings want to attend to skate and bounce, you would pay for that separately at the window when you enter. It is a night that is open to the public. Also, remember we will have a cast and crew strike meeting on Monday, March 23rd at the auditorium after school until 5 PM. We will clean up everything from the show, put away costuming, technology, etc. the proper way and get the theater back to the way it is supposed to be. We will also have mock elections and some cast and crew fun.
2/15/26
Tickets for the family of the cast and crew will be available tomorrow beginning at 9 AM. Adults are $11.25 and Seniors/Students/Children are $7.25. To access the ticket sales go to rmstheater.ludus.com and use the passcode sent out at 9 AM on Monday, February 16. Tickets will go on sale to the public 3 days later. All proceeds go to the theater department to help recoup the costs of doing the production and to fund future productions so students to have the opportunity to learn and grow in the arts and develop skills they can use in life. Children attending the performance are encouraged to dress like their favorite Disney/Marvel/etc. character and can come up on stage to show it off and answer the question of what was one of their favorite books read to them or that they read and why? We will also have concessions available during intermission.
2/10/26
We had to add a rehearsal day on Friday, February 20th after school until 5 PM. This is due to missing two days for Winter break, the snow days, the talent show, etc. We apologize and don't want to have to be there on a Friday ourselves, but we need to make sure the show will be ready. Thank you for your understanding.
2/9/26
REHEARSALS: All cast members including ensemble are needed at all remaining rehearsals. Tech crew who are working on signs are needed Tuesday 2/10 through 2/12. Then all tech crew are needed at all remaining rehearsals beginning Wednesday 2/18. So, if you are wondering if you are needed at rehearsal, the answer is yes! Also, actors please make sure to memorize your lines. You will need to be off book coming up. If you have trouble learning lines, check the helpful hints below in the newsletter.
Time is going fast. We are working on blocking the show, continuing to rehearse vocals, learn choreography, and paint up our community signs. We do have a bit of work around this week with the elementary school having their talent show at our auditorium. We are limited to what we can do tech-wise and have some of our focus pulled. Regardless, we will continue on and make progress.
We want to thank all the parents who have volunteered thus far, continue to help, or have offered. We definitely can use more help after this week. Are there any creative volunteers who like to alter or build costumes? Perhaps some who like to build things working with wood? Anyone enjoy hunting down props or creating props? Maybe you just want to offer to supervise some student groups working on materials or rehearsals. If so, please fill out the volunteer form in this newsletter.
Please have the Pay-to-Participate fee turned in by Feb. 21st. Links for this are found above. Also, EVERY student in the cast and tech crew will be receiving a t-shirt as part of their cast/crew participation fee (no need to order that using this link, we have got you covered), but we also wanted to offer extra options for the cast, crew and their families if you are interested in purchasing Beauty and the Beast spiritwear.

We are looking for parent volunteers to help keep an eye on students as they are working in their groups to complete various tasks for the show. The parent volunteers don't need specific skills, except to be able to manage a group of students to stay on task. We will be looking for more volunteers in the future to help with some other areas. If you are willing and able to help manage some groups, please make sure you have filled out a volunteer form this year through Romeo Community Schools. Here is a link to the form you fill out and bring in to a school office. Once you have completed the volunteer background check and are willing to help, please click this link to let us know what days you are available to help out.

The voting has closed and it looks like 95% of you are good with the 5 PM pickup time from rehearsals. However, due to the snow days, if we need to extend some time, 55% of you are fine with it going to 5:30, so we will keep that in mind as we see how progress goes. If any parents were interested in helping with the process of the show, please make sure to have a background check completed through our office. We will get a signup sheet going and see where we can use extra hands as we make more progress and get a groove going. The cast began learning the songs. We have begun ordering some of the specialty costumes and are working on how we will make the other costumes. We have a basic idea of the stage layout and will finalize the set plans.
Any tech crew members who would like an opportunity to work a talent show for Indian Hills Elementary are welcome to let Mr. Salembier know by email and join the meeting for tech crew on Tuesday. In order to be a part of the talent show tech crew for the talent show, the student needs to have their parents permission and be able to come back to school at 5:30 on both Tuesday, Feb 10 and Thursday Feb. 12. The Feb. 10 rehearsal runs until 9 PM. The Feb. 12 show runs until 10 PM. A student interested must be able to attend both days to be a part of the crew.
Due to the snow day, rehearsal for Monday has been canceled. Of course, if school is canceled, you can bet rehearsal has been canceled. Tuesday will be a tech crew meeting and for the cast members Belle, Beast, ALL Main Enchanted Objects to have a singing rehearsal. On Wednesday Tech meeting or those painting the signs and those interested in being part of the Indian Hills Talent Show. Also, the cast of Silly Girls, Gaston, LeFou, and Belle will have singing rehearsal. On Thursday, tech crew painting the signs and those who want to learn about lights and projection are meeting. Also, everyone in the cast has signing rehearsal.

We had our read through today with the cast and crew. However, with so many kids and getting everything set up, we didn't even get to read through the entire show. It was close, but not fully complete. On a positive note, we got scripts out to all the kids, went over some important concepts in regards to their scripts, and was able to read through the majority of the show. As we are working on putting together a schedule. We can tell you that this week ALL CAST will be called for rehearsal tomorrow, Wednesday 1/21 and Thursday 1/22. It will be from after school until 5 PM. They will be working on learning some of the songs where everyone sings. Therefore, anyone in the cast should be there. There will be NO TECH rehearsals for the rest of this week. Please remind your child to put their name on their script in pen or marker, to highlight their lines in a bright highlighter color (just the lines you say aloud, no stage directions), and to start working on memorizing their lines. Also, your child should always bring their script and a pencil to rehearsal. Please stay healthy, get good sleep, stay hydrated, wash your hands, and eat good food.
1/16/26
Due to weather conditions that caused our school closing, our Read Through Rehearsal/Meeting for all the cast and tech crew has been moved to Tuesday, January 20th @ the auditorium right after school until 5 PM. Please bring a pencil, highlighter, and a snack and water bottle. You will need a ride to pick you up in the back parking lot at door #32 at 5 PM. You will be receiving your script at this rehearsal meeting.

Our cast and crew have been assembled. Click here to see the list. If your child is not on the list or there is an error, please let us know so we can correct it.
It is an honor to work with your children and we realize you are very busy. Due to work schedules, 5:00 pick up time may not work best for the majority. We have a poll to get your feedback to see if extending it to 5:30 would make the majority of your lives easier. Please let us know by taking the poll below. Based on the results, we will see if there is any need to change the time. Thank you for your input.
We will be allowing you all to see what takes place during our rehearsal process through photos and perhaps some video. If you do not consent to having your child included in any pictures or video solely for that purpose, please complete the form in this newsletter.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. It features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
