IGSMA Success! IGSMA Success!

This Saturday, the 6th-8th grade bands participated in the IGSMA contest at Martino Junior High in New Lenox. After a 30-minute warm-up, each band performed for a panel of judges and then received a 30-minute clinic to improve their playing. They also received a professional recording of their performance, which Peotone will receive later.

The 6th grade band received feedback, while the 7th-8th grade band was scored, with a lower score indicating better performance (like golf). The 7-8th grade band earned scores of 11, 11, and 13 — (as far as I know) the best Peotone Junior High has received in 15 years!

A big thank you to the parent chaperones who made this event run smoothly. Every step of the way they were helpful and made everything run so smoothly. I'm incredibly proud of the students' hard work and can't wait to showcase their achievements at Thursday's concert!

ISU Trip ISU Trip

The PHS Band had an incredible clinic at ISU with Assistant Band Director, TJ Mack! He did a fantastic job of helping us bring more depth to our music. The students also had the opportunity to perform in one of Illinois' top concert halls, the Center for Performing Arts. To top it off, the kids enjoyed a tasty fast food stop on the way back!

Music Program Conflict Forms Music Program Conflict Forms

In order to make sure that both band and choir performances run smoothly, we are asking families to fill out a conflict form (the button below) if a student is not able to be there. This is to be filled out at least 2 weeks in advance before the date of conflict. This form will be posted on the newsletter and shortly is available on both band and choir student's Google Classroom pages.

Performances are grades and the expectation is for you to be there. If you are unable to go to an event, there will be a makeup assignment that will need to be completed. Usually situations of work or family events do not qualify as reasons for not going. Once completing the form, please alert Mr. Kowalski or Ms. Marshall about the submission so we can review it.
