It is a great day in San Angelo ISD! This month, we celebrate the incredible cadre of campus principals serving our students, staff, and families. The most enjoyable hours of my day are visiting campuses and classrooms to see the art and science of teaching firsthand. Great campuses do not happen by accident and not without strong campus leadership. Our principals are tireless servants who love what they do and are willing to go the extra mile to meet the needs of our students. There is nothing more powerful than a kind and supportive word or handwritten note to encourage our principals. Join me in reaching out to let your principal know how much you appreciate what they do.

Thank you to our community for supporting the continued Bond Construction approved by voters in May of 2025. Recently, we broke ground on Glenn Middle School and will soon break ground at Central High School. Your support will be felt for generations as we strive to better serve our students across the district.

Parents, thank you for entrusting us with your students and for partnering with us. Above all, students first!

Three Central High School Students Capture Highest Possible Score on ACT

Three Central High School students have accomplished something truly rare. They earned the highest possible score on the ACT — a 36. Each year, only a tiny fraction of the students who take the test nationwide reach it. The ACT measures English, math, reading and science and a top score means a student has mastered the material across every one of those areas. It takes years of hard work, curiosity and discipline, and reflects the strong foundation these young men have built here in San Angelo ISD, with the support first of their families, their teachers and their campus.

Harper Cohen and Alexander Stephens each earned a composite score of 36, putting them in that elite group of students. Both are seniors who have shown, year after year, what it looks like to take their education to the next level. Fellow senior Akash Vukoti also earned a composite score of 36 - doing so with a perfect 36 on every section of the test.

Scores like these don’t happen by accident. They are the result of late nights, challenging classes and a willingness to keep pushing even when classwork gets hard. It goes without saying that we are so proud of these three seniors and we are so excited to see what they do next.

Central High School's Akash Vukoti Named 2027 National Merit Semifinalist

San Angelo ISD is proud to share that Central High School Senior Akash Vukoti has been named a 2027 National Merit Semifinalist.

The National Merit Scholarship Program has been around since 1955. It’s an annual academic competition that recognizes top students and opens the door to college scholarships. It’s run by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, a non-profit organization that operates without government assistance.

Here’s what makes this honor so special. Students enter by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and more than 1.2 million students take it every year. Rising to the top of a field that large takes serious talent and dedication. From here, a select number of semifinalists are expected to advance to the finalist level, and they will be notified of that designation in February.

November is National Gratitude Month

November is National Gratitude Month, a time to pause and appreciate the people who make a difference in our lives. At San Angelo ISD, we believe gratitude strengthens our schools and our community, and that a simple thank-you can brighten someone’s day.

We are thankful for our students, who inspire us with their curiosity and kindness. We are thankful for our teachers and staff, who give their time and heart to our classrooms, and for our families, whose support makes every success possible. We encourage everyone to take a moment this month to say thank you to a teacher, a bus driver, a custodian, a cafeteria worker, a friend or a family member. Gratitude is something we can practice at home and at school all year long.

San Angelo ISD welcomed approximately 30 members of the 44th Leadership San Angelo class to Bradford Elementary on October 8 for the group's annual Education Day, offering community leaders a firsthand look at bilingual education in action.

During the visit, participants toured Pre-K, kindergarten and first-grade classrooms to see how students develop language, literacy and academic skills in both Spanish and English. As SAISD's Spanish Bilingual Program Magnet Campus, Bradford Elementary provides instruction designed to build a strong foundation in students' home language while gradually increasing English instruction as they advance through grade levels.

San Angelo ISD appreciates the opportunity to partner with Leadership San Angelo and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce to showcase the dedicated educators and innovative programs helping prepare bilingual, biliterate and future-ready students.

THE SCOOP ON SAN ANGELO READS! THE SCOOP ON SAN ANGELO READS!

San Angelo READS! + Atmos Energy | 1st Grade Read-Aloud at McGill Elementary

Atmos Energy Helps Put New Books in the Hands of SAISD First Graders

San Angelo ISD continued its monthly San Angelo READS! book giveaways in October with a special read-aloud at McGill Elementary, thanks to the generous support of Atmos Energy. Atmos Energy Public Affairs Manager Molly Turk joined first graders as a guest reader, sharing “Living In…Mexico” by Chloe Perkins. Through this partnership, every first-grade student across SAISD received a copy of the book to take home and enjoy with their families.

San Angelo READS! monthly book selections are thoughtfully chosen to complement classroom learning. With first graders currently studying the ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations, this month's book introduced students to Mexico's geography, history and culture while reinforcing classroom lessons and encouraging reading at home.

San Angelo ISD extends its sincere appreciation to Atmos Energy for its continued investment in childhood literacy and for helping put books into the hands of our youngest readers. Keep Reading, San Angelo!
