A Note From Principal Rice
Dear Families,
To help you stay connected with your student’s learning, we want to remind you about Canvas, our learning management system. Canvas allows you to view upcoming assignments, check grades, and follow your student's progress in real-time.
Please take a moment to review the Canvas Parent Letter linked below. Inside these letters, you will also find links to short Canvas Training Tutorials designed to walk you step-by-step through setting up your observer account, navigating the dashboard, checking grades, and setting up notifications.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your student's success!
A Note From Officer Gilmore
CT Families,
I’d like to welcome all of you back to CTMS for another amazing year! This is my 2nd year as the school resource officer (SRO) at CT. I am super excited to continue working with your students and learning all the names and faces of the new 6th grade class. I just wanted to send out a few safety reminders to help us have a successful year. I know the laws and regulations regarding electric motorized vehicles are constantly changing as they have increased in popularity over the last few years. I wanted to make this short and simple to understand. The cities of Olathe and Overland Park have deemed E-motos illegal for operation within city limits for riders under the age of 16. An E-moto is an electric motorized vehicle that does not have operational foot pedals and they often resemble a dirt bike. If your student owns one of these, please do not allow them to ride it to school. Riders under the age of 18 are required to wear helmets on E-scooters or E-bikes. Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding electronic motorized vehicles. Also, please remind your students to utilize the pedestrian warning light prior to entering the crosswalk. I will be out there in the mornings and afternoons to make sure our students are able to cross in a safe manner. Again, welcome to CT and let’s work together to provide a safe learning environment for our students!
SRO J. Gilmore

Small Tabs, Big Impact! Collect Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House ✨
We are collecting pop tabs to support Ronald McDonald House Charities and families receiving care at Children’s Mercy Hospital!
Those tiny aluminum pull-tabs on beverage cans add up quickly to make a huge difference, helping provide a comfortable "home-away-from-home" for families while their kids undergo treatment.
How to help:
- Save the pop tabs from your soda, sparkling water, or soup cans.
- Drop them off in the collection tub located in MPR/Lunch Room.
- Spread the word and keep collecting all year long!
Every single tab counts—let’s see how full we can get our collection tub!
