Welcome Back!

Dear Viking Families,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! I hope your summer was filled with rest, fun and special memories with family and friends. As we open our doors for another year of learning, growth and community, I want to share how excited our staff and I are to see our hallways and classrooms buzzing with energy once again.

At Dundee Elementary, we are proud to be Vikings—brave, strong and ready to face new adventures together. This year, our focus will be on fostering a safe, supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. We believe that when home and school work as partners, students have the strongest foundation for success.

You’ll notice many opportunities throughout the year to connect with us, whether through family events, classroom activities or volunteering. Your involvement is a vital part of our school community, and we are so grateful for your partnership.

Thank you for trusting us with your child’s learning journey. We can’t wait to see all the great things our Vikings will accomplish this year!

With Viking Pride,

Mrs. Love

Dismissal Updates Dismissal Updates

Thanks to the survey feedback we received, we were able to make a couple of adjustments to our end of day procedures. Please see the notes and photo below:

Pick Ups: If you are PICKING UP your child with a VEHICLE, you should utilize the traffic loop at the north side of the building. Please have your child's neon green name card in your dash to assist our staff in matching you to your child. This is the safest way for our staff to get your child to your vehicle.

Walkers & Bikers: If your child is walking or riding a bike home, they will now be dismissed from the Adams Street exit at the old office doors. If your child takes Ypsilanti Street home, they will utilize the help of the crossing guard to take the west side of the sidewalk so as to not interfere with bus traffic. Please see the orange lines on the attached photo. If you are walking with your child, please wait for them to be dismissed in the grass.

Bus Riders: If your child rides the bus home, they will continue to use the exit on the corner of Adams & Ypsilanti Streets and they will walk north up Ypsilanti Street to enter the bus. Without walker/biker traffic, this should be much more smooth. (Green Arrows)

It is imperative that ALL families follow the provided procedures so as to support us in getting hundreds of students out of the building at the same time as efficiently and safely as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

*Morning procedures will remain the same with drop off students entering through the traffic loop and bus riders and walkers entering on the corner of Adams & Ypsilanti Street.

Welcome back, Vikings!

I’m beyond excited to start another incredible school year with all of you! We’re continuing PBIS—Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports—our school-wide system for creating a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment where everyone can shine. That means clear expectations, positive choices, and plenty of celebrations, with weekly and monthly rewards for students who go above and beyond. Our Courageous Choices program is also back, bringing weekly lessons that build character, strengthen relationships, and inspire leadership. Plus, our Viking Value assemblies are getting a fresh twist—now, once a month in smaller group settings, so we can really dive into what it means to ROW: Respect, Ownership, and Wise Choices.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at jay.briggs@dundeeschools.org or by calling (734)-529-2350 EXT. 12005

Welcome Back to School!

We’re excited to welcome our students and families back for another wonderful school year! As you adjust to new routines, remember that mental health is just as important as academics. Your school social workers, Brandy Raymer, LLMSW (General Education Social Worker) and Katie Carter, LMSW (Special Education Social Worker) are here to support you.

If you or your family are looking for mental health or counseling services, Care Solace is a free, confidential resource that can quickly connect you to local providers. You can learn more at www.caresolace.com. For additional resources, The Monroe County Family Resource Guide is linked below.

Back-to-School Self-Care Tip: Start each evening by preparing for the next day—lay out clothes, pack lunches, and set aside a few minutes for deep breathing or reading. A calm evening makes for a smoother morning!
